Johnny's Birthday Celebrations

We did it! We made it a whole year with Johnny and celebrated him on his birthday.
First up we had the most important part- a party! I did a sunshine/"son"shine theme for a couple reasons. First, it wasn't always some plan I had, but it ended up that all my kids had a sky themed first birthday. June was a cloud party, Hazel, the stars, and Rose had a rainbow one (plus she was a rainbow baby.) So for Johnny I thought a sun would be fitting but also perfect since he's our only son. :)

We kept the party to our families on both sides. We had dinner that involved blue berries, since those are his favorite, and then he had a sun cake and opened presents.

I thought he'd be the one to smash into his cake, but no, even Johnny was careful and polite. Not sure what it is about my kids and their one year cakes. haha (they are certainly not always so clean with the rest of their meals...)
And now, a million photos because he is just too cute!

Present time with cousin Kennedy close by to test out all the toys.
It was a great little party and we were so grateful for our families and their support and for showing up!

The next morning, on his actual birthday, he got the traditional coffee cake.

And then the rest of that day was kind of crazy with church and then a family reunion thing so we didn't get to celebrate him much and if you know me, then you know that that killed my heart a little bit SO the next day we did something fun that we knew would make Johnny happy. He loves water right now so we got out our little pool and the bubble machine (he thinks bubbles are hilarious) and had a final little celebration.

We love Johnny so much! We loved making his birthday special!

Loved the “sonshine” theme. And who wouldn’t like bubbles on their birthday.
