Kids Who Care- August

We only ended up with one activity for the month of August for our neighborhood kids service group. But it was a great activity! The kids went in groups around the neighborhood finding any food from neighbors to donate to a local food pantry. We got a lot of good stuff! It was hot and there was a lot of walking and hauling our heavy wagon around so it was good work to be done.

Tibble Fork

We got to take a family hike before school started and it was a great time with lots of laughs! We saw a snake (and Winta lost her MIND,) we got to play in the water both at the reservoir and the river, June and Winta climbed a boulder and then didn't know how to get down and it ended with Winta accidentally falling into the river with June, who cried but then laughed about it. Good memories. ;)

A screen shot from the video I luckily got of the fall. This is June's face right after she got out and was wet and cold and in shock. ;)

Happy Anniversary!

I didn't get around to my yearly post on my thoughts about the last year of marriage. But life is so busy that it's hard to find time! But just know that this past year has been a great one. Getting our health figured out, taking on extra guests in our home, saying good bye to our foster daughters as they moved out, taking some family trips, a new job for Buck, gaining a son in law (!), and soon to be grandparents! 😂😂😂 It's sure been a wild ride but it's been the best ride with Buck by my side. (cute little poem.) We've got an exciting year ahead of us, I just know it!

To celebrate 12 years we started by going to one of our favorite restaurants- The Melting Pot.

Then we discovered that Buck had never actually booked our hotel stay. I mean, he thought he had and I was with him when we did it but something must not have gone through all the way, we don't know. But we were homeless. Buck was super lucky and ended up finding a Bed and Breakfast in Midway, a charming little Swiss home run by a kind old man.

I didn't get very many great photos but our bathroom had it's own sauna and steam shower and large jetted tub! It was such a lucky find! So we had a nice relaxing night!

The next morning we had breakfast made by the host. We got the dining room all to ourselves. This place is FULL of character and I love nothing more than that. He made us giant massive German pancakes that we spritzed lemon juice on over melted butter then sprinkled with powder sugar. It was heavenly.

After more sauna time we reluctantly left the inn. So we have this tradition for our anniversary that we do something new together that we've never done before. This year for that we went go-cart racing! It was at this indoor track and that place was intense! I am a speeder on the road so this was fun! 😈 However, I got stuck behind some slow kid for several laps at the end (which isn't supposed to happen! but whatever) so my score didn't properly reflect my skills. 😉😜 So okay, Buck beat me but next time he wont be so lucky.

Lastly, we went to the temple and it was a great time! The perfect way to celebrate being sealed together 12 years ago!

I will never take for granted how fortunate I am to have a wonderful husband and a good marriage. I know these are not things that everyone has and they are not things that I somehow deserve. It's a gamble for us all. It hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows, of course, we have our things and issues, but over all, it's been a wonderful 12 years! 💘
