A day with June

Sometimes when June is crawling down the hall and she gets upset it goes a little something like this:

She does this. Just keeps bowing down and then getting back up. Paying homage to the carpet? Quick prayer? You be the judge.

Distraught.

Look how blonde her hair is! (well, what hair she has)

Also, she is everywhere like any baby her age would be. Honestly, it's not as bad as I was fearing. Our house is little. And, I don't know, somehow it's not so obnoxious or nerve racking when it's my kid as opposed to someone else's. It's kind of fun actually. (Kind of.) (I mean, as cute as she is opening that cupboard over and over again....)

And she's obsessed with the cat and follows him everywhere. He is, much to her dismay, not obsessed with her.

Oh and she's super cute.

And sometimes we accidentally coordinate our outfits.
She's apparently not thrilled about this.

Butterflies

Now that we've all gone through the magic of Hawaii together, I have some unpacking to do on the past couple weeks. A few weeks? I'm not sure how long it's been since we've been home.

So. I got a butterfly "garden" and that was fun. We got to release the butterflies after they hatched.

Wanted to get a picture of it in its "garden"
And then it escaped.... oops

We now all have bikes, or in June's case, a bike trailer. We are already loving our family bike rides by the fields near our house. It's made for some good exercise, fun family nights, and happy mornings.

Silly helmet!
I went to "baby animal days" with my friend Sonja. It turned out to be pretty treacherous. A) it was hot (which is fine with me but not so much for June.)  B) The goats were SAVAGES. At one point I sat June down on this little tractor thing and one came up and head butted her into the steering wheel. Not okay. C) We attempted to calm down after that and had ourselves a little sit down on the seats of hay. It was the most prickly and unpleasant experience my rump has ever encountered. I drove home pantless and still have stickers stuck in my shorts even after washing them. D) For some unknown reason my point and shoot camera stopped working. Still broken. E) I was already out and about and so my friend had to bring sunscreen for June and one of her baby boy's hats for her to wear. I added June's headband to girl it up but she still looked like Gilligan from Gilligan's Island.

But on the bright side- I got to pet a baby cow!

"Gilligan" on the treacherous hay bale.

We got to go up to the mountains and have a bon fire with some friends.

Our emo bonfire faces

Oh and mother's day!
Buck and June spoiled me. Had eggs benedict for breakfast, got sweet gifts, got to relax, got to paint the bird house that June got for me, made s'mores in my new little fire pit, Buck made a great dinner involving king crab legs (!) I got to take a lavender bath, and Buck gave me a great massage.
Really, the best first mother's day. :) (and don't judge my non-edited photos.) (and I'm not showing my gifts to brag or something, just documenting my mother's days so I can see how they evolve through the years. ;) )

So the way I painted the bird feeder ended up looking like it belonged in the Bahamas. (all the houses and buildings there are painted multi-colored like this)
The most appropriate card he could have gotten

Yesterday June, Erin, and I went to the pool. June is a little water bug and loves these activities. Guess I should fill up the kiddy pool I got last summer for my pregnant self. (It was a bust.)

awesome photo of us

And I love to see the temple.

AND last week I was making my dinner list for the week. I asked Buck what he wanted for dinner on Friday. He said that he was bored with food and that he wanted a "pudding dinner." So Friday night when he got to the table all he got was a bowl of chocolate pudding with a glass a milk. I don't think he knew how seriously I took his request.

No but really. That's all we had for dinner that night.

Hawaii- Day 7- Last Day :(

I'm sure you wont miss my posts about Hawaii, but it's been sweet to prolong the vacation in my mind for me. I'll miss em, dang it.

By the way, here is a picture of our view from the condo balcony and then a photo of the inside. Buck and I and June got the upstairs loft room.

We got this in a fortune cookie and it was sad because we got it in Hawaii, which meant we were really going home. :(

So. The last day was a little tricky. We had to check out of the condo at 11:00 a.m. but we didn't fly out until 10:00 p.m. Nobody really wanted to get all salty at the beach and then have nowhere to clean up. Well, everyone but me that is. So I got to go relax on the beach by myself for a little bit. No regrets- the water was warm like a bath and the sand was soft and hot.

And then after that we all drove up 10,000 feet (!) to the top of the island, which is a crater. Or volcano, or was... or something. Either way. It was pretty epic to drive up above the clouds. The mountain itself is an additional 19,000 something feet under the water and it is actually taller than Mt. Everest. I'm hoping this can count as my trek now...

At one point we stopped during the drive and went on a little hike. I was able to take a moment in the silence by myself and watch these clouds collide.

The crater! Like being on Mars they say.

After that we drove to Iao valley- a sacred valley where one of the last battles for Hawaii was fought. It was beautiful.

That night we went to eat at a Vietnamese restaurant, which was good, and then we left.

And oh, that over night flight. June screamed and screamed the whole way up, she was so tired and confused. We felt so bad, for her and for everyone around us. She finally got to sleep but would wake up every hour and scream for a minute. Imagine, if you will, the deadly silent plane and then all the sudden "AHHH A@#^Y$UH!!!" roaring through the plane. Although, over all, it could have been worse. People were understanding as well, so that helped.

And here we are. Back in Utah in one piece. So what more could we ask?

The whole week I kept marveling at how blessed I've been through out my whole life to see so many different places and meet so many people. The earth is clothed in the most indescribable beauty. I don't have any idea why I have been able to see what I have, but I have a heart full of thanks for every little piece of it.

We are so grateful to have been able to go on this wonderful vacation. We are so grateful for my parents and all that they do and did for this and for everything. Feels like we won the lottery in life with our families- they are so wonderful!

Now. The only thing left to do is to convince both of our families and relatives to move to Hawaii.
And our friends.
And THEN it would be paradise and we could all live there and be happy.
Shall we?
