Wheeler Farms

As I mentioned, this last week June and I went to Wheeler Farms with Carrie and Georgia. For those of you who don't know, Wheeler Farms is some historic place with farm animals such as cows, chickens, goats, and horses. There are also a lot of barns and farm equipment. And a place you can milk a cow. And paths that go behind the duck pond and lead to grassy hills that are quiet and make you feel alone in the world (in the best way.) Oh, and it's FREE. Probably wont be the last time we go (and it certainly wasn't the first.)

And... these are pretty much just photos of June and not of Wheeler Farm, but.... I'm obsessed.

*In the past few of posts there are now suckers and honey and Icees and popcorn and cakes and donuts and lots of frozen yogurt documented. So, just for the record, at Wheeler Farms June also had a lunch of a baked sweet potato, plain apple sauce and cheese slices. Okay. Some redemption as a mother. Some.

Sunset with June

The spring evening was gentle and buttered with the gold of the sunset. June and I passed the time making wishes and talking about flowers. I feel like I'm in a special time of my life when I only have June and get to fully focus on her and all these moments. Our days are pretty simple and I love it. I feel so blessed. And this particular evening was extra special. I don't know why. Maybe because it was warm enough. Perhaps it was because June was in a mellow mood and jabbered her words onto the strands of setting light, telling me stories. Or maybe it was the quiet and how picking the small flowers felt like it was the first time anybody had ever done that. Mostly it was all of that. Peaceful blessings.

This Week

This past week I had spring fever and so we went many places.

Starting with frozen yogurt last weekend. ;) I really have a craving for it everyday the past several months and I don't know what my problem is...

Oh, and on the way Buck got pulled over for speeding, but he was so genuinely clueless to the fact that he was speeding that he got out of the ticket without even trying. I guess his aloof driving pays off sometimes...

On Monday June and I went to the animal farm at Thanksgiving point, since now I'm a member and all. :) We went with Sonja and her son Xander. It was kind of chilly that day, which was nice because the place was deserted and that was awesome and worth the wind. Happy Earth Day!
June hated the pony ride. But I made her go around once anyways. Yes, I was that mom. But I'm hoping she'll like it on a less windy day, right?

Tuesday I was out of control and wanted to do everything possible. So first June and I went with Emily and Elliot to the tulip gardens and had a picnic:

And then we met Tanya and two of her kids at the dinosaur museum, which also has a shark.

There was also a variety of sand to play with. I loved how big the smock was on June! haha
More sand, no smock?
And to wash off the sand June had a bath that night, which led to a bath to wash of the art

Wednesday June got to go over to her cousins' house and play while I did chores.
And Thursday we went to girls' lunch with my aunts and grandma, but I forgot to take a photo. But apparently at some point that day I drove somewhere with June AND Abe, and I felt accomplished.  So accomplished that I photographed it.

Friday day June and I went to Wheeler Farms with Carrie and Georgia, but that's for another post since A) I haven't yet downloaded those photos and B) this post seems only full of photos from my phone and I used my real camera that day instead.

Friday night Jade got into town to stay for the weekend before she leaves on a trip to Mexico and Belize! It was nice timing too since Buck was gone camping with the Scouts that night. So we declared it a "girls night." We did some shopping and then, you guessed it, got frozen yogurt....

You're welcome for allllllll the advertising u-swirl.
And today we went to Target for more preparation shopping with Jade and June and I shared some popcorn and an Icee. Which was a great ending to the week! Plus tonight we got to go to a barbeque with Buck's relatives so all in all, a week well lived.

Happy News

Buck got a job!

Granted, he's had a job and stuff but those have been paid internships, or teaching jobs, or teacher assistant jobs while he's been going through his Masters. But today he got a real we're-going-to-be-here-for-a-while job. He got a couple different offers and it was stressful trying to make the right choice (although we understand that it is a blessed stressful that we were grateful to be going through) but in the end we feel at peace with what we decided. One reason for this is that this job will be supportive of Buck starting his PhD in the fall. So, life is going to be crazy! Plus, now Buck has to finish his thesis this May and then he will be ready to walk and graduate a Masters in August!

To celebrate I bought some treats. . .
Well, that and I was grocery shopping while I was really hungry. So I can't be completely sure about what my motives were.

 Either way. Yum.

I am a very proud wife. Buck works so hard and does so much for our little family. I feel so safe with him and know that whatever happens in life he will always be trying his hardest and doing his best.

(P.S. I've been meaning to say THANK YOU to everyone who made such supportive comments on my photo blog. It's no surprise that those comments came from those who really love me or care. So thank you, it helped me so much. xoxo)
