June's Birthday Day

Once again the party happened on a day other than the birthday. And I just can't help myself but make the actual day a little special too. But no wonder June's been telling everyone each day that it's her birthday. She had like three days of it! haha

She woke up to balloons in her room and some decorations in the kitchen. I also had Fruit Loops on the table for her. She's obsessed with it and I refuse to buy it normally (because she wont eat anything else if I do!)

She got to open her presents from family. We caved and got her a leap frog leap pad.

Her Nana and Pops were there too. Nana made her the traditional coffee cake! 

A little later we went to the aquarium, in keeping with the Ariel theme. She got a mermaid tail from my sister and she insisted on wearing it the whole time and got pretty good at walking in it. haha (and I forgot my real camera! sad day)

Then that evening Buck's family came down and we all went to the mountains for a birthday picnic. And it was perfect.

I think it's safe to say that June had a pretty great birthday (for a few days.) She is worth every bit of it.

June's Birthday Party

For June's birthday party I kept things simple this year... well, you know, simple for me. 

I bought the normal party pack stuff at the party store. She wanted an "Ariel, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty party." Um, no. So Ariel it was. (with an Aladdin surprise because I can't help myself...)

For the food we had pizza, some veggies and fruit and Jello. Because that is what June requested. And I had no idea she was so obsessed with jello since it's not something I've ever really made before... but she was very diligent in helping me make those rainbow layers and she checked up on it all day as it hardened in the fridge. And once the plate was brought out she just kept eating it like crazy until it was gone! Little weirdo.

My parents got her this little pool for her present. It's pretty great and perfect! 

And we filled it with water balloons!

My friend also has a bounce house on hand (lucky!) so we borrowed that and it was so perfect!

I know she's at the age now where I'm probably suppose to have like, just the kids over but we love having all of our friends here to party!

We also had a fishing game. you know, where you put the line over the sheet and it comes back with prizes? The kids went crazy and each took about four turns doing this. haha

We had plastic fish, sunglasses, gummy sharks, Ariel bubbles, Ariel combs, clapper hands, and laffy taffy.

She was spoiled with gifts-

And then.... the real surprise came!  I was able to pull some magical strings and get Aladdin to come stop by and say Happy Birthday to June. At first she ran up and gave him a hug but then she got all happy/nervous/shy. But she gave him a couple kisses on the cheek.

The morning after I asked her if she had fun at her party and she said without any coaxing from me, "Well, my favorite part was when Aladdin came." And my heart bursts a million times over. What could feel better than making her little dreams come true? Being a mom is kind of the best job sometimes.

And anyway, I didn't even make a cake- but bought one at the store! And it was perfect.

It's days like these that I hope she will have some sort of memory about it all. Sometimes I think it's one of the most unfair parts of life, not being able to remember much from our (hopefully) happy childhoods. But if nothing else these times shape who we are. And memories or not, June is going to grow up feeling loved and that is what I care about the most. Because I love her a whole lot!
