Happy Third Birthday, Rose!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSIE!!!

Dear Rose,

Today you are three years old! And I have to say, this past year was one of the best. You really learned how to use your words, identify your emotions, and let us know what you need. The tantrums have gone down, your cute little voice has become more fluid on speaking, and that twinkle in your eyes grows brighter.

You're so imaginative now. And sometime during this year you suddenly became obsessed with princesses- especially Elsa, Moana, and Ariel. You know so many words to their songs and love to sing your heart out. And you'd be perfectly happy wearing a princess dress every day.

You're very loyal to your favorite color purple. And the world would stop moving if your pink and white blankets disappeared. You love to read books and cuddle.  You will stop everything to come help me cook and bake. And you have become a surprisingly good little artist, especially when it comes to coloring in the lines. You're fiery and stubborn and always determined, forever and always, to have me, your mom, over anyone else.

But as much as we know you, there is still so much we are learning about you. So much left to explore and discover from your brilliant spirit. You've had to deal with a lot of adjustments during your few years of life, and there are more to come, but I hope you will always know how loved you are; how without you, our family would never be complete. I still can't believe that you get to be ours and we get to be yours. We love you so so soooo much! And I can't wait to see what growth and love this next year brings! 💖

Love,
Mommy

Happy Birthday to me!

Hey. So I had my birthday and stuff and usually I make a post for that day but life is officially too crazy now and I guess that didn't make the list last week. But it's late right now and I should be in bed but I'm not so... here I am to simply make a note that I turned 34 years old and that's kind of weird but I feel good about it because it's not super different from 33 other than 33 sounded nicer with the double 3's, right?

It is worth mentioning what I did for my birthday, though. First of all I woke up to coffee cake and fantastic presents from my kids.

Then one of my dearest friends came to visit. And then that evening my amazing friends surprised me by planning a group date with all of us and our husbands. First they took me to a cereal bar for dinner! They know me well! haha

Then we went to a paint nite and painted golden lakes except I didn't want to be like everyone else and add ducks so I added a canoe with some really exceptional stick figures having a romantic moment. And Buck gets me and added an octopus to his lake. And our friend Andrew also is like minded and put the Loch-ness monster in his. (I was jealous)

Then Buck and our families got me the most legit and amazing karaoke system for my present! It's already been the best thing ever. Buck set up a karaoke party for me with his family that weekend and he made me chocolate pudding cake and bought tons of junk foods to munch on. It was such a fun and funny night! Then the next night I wanted more so I invited some good friends and neighbors over and it was the best!

So, YES, I was very spoiled. Thank you to all my loving friends and family!! Thank you thank you!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This year for Thanksgiving we hosted! And I mean, we REALLY hosted- 40 people! My family came from Idaho and then my relatives from my dad's side who live in Utah all came over as well. It was fun to use the space in our home in the ways we dreamed it up for. Thanks to my mom and sister, we were well organized and prepared. It was pretty non-stressful all things considering (although, I'll admit, clean up was a beast.) After we feasted, there was lots of karaoke (we got a new karaoke system for my birthday!) and then those of us remaining stayed up late playing games and eating more pie than we should have. Also, it was a white and snowy Thanksgiving! Not sure how I really feel about that but I guess it was okay because I got to stay inside.

T'was the perfect day! Lots of food, fun, and family, and hey- nobody was in the hosptial!
