Lullaby and Goodnight Baby Shower

Erin is my only sister, so despite throwing two parties in one day, I knew I wanted to give her the best baby shower. This is her first and she is having a girl! We are so excited, we kind of think that girls are the best. 

I was really proud of how the party turned out. I didn't consult pinterest for the theme or decorations at all- I like coming up with my own ideas!  I did find some ideas online for the desserts, but all from different sources. I don't know, I just feel like I have to claim this since we live in a time when it seems every idea has already been taken. I can be happy about it, right? 

But I can't take all the credit for everything. My mom did SO MUCH for this, including the funding and baking. Buck constructed a fake window and tree. Carrie gave me the best idea for the letter blocks you will see. My aunt Rachelle cut the fruit. I could never do it all on my own. I just like to come up with ideas and then hire out the work. ;)

"Lullaby and Goodnight" baby shower.

Lavender cupcakes to calm everyone. These had real ground up lavender in them and a honey cream cheese frosting. They were amazing Oh and p.s. my mom also made all the super cute food signs!

Sheep cookies. (again, my mom is amazing)

I wanted something bed time-ish so we had a spin on warm milk and toast. We had English muffins with butter and jam and some with ham and cheese. Then we had milk steamers (warm milk with flavoring.)

Star kiwis and moon pineapples. And homemade marshmallow clouds.

We had a good turn out of people and crammed quite a few souls into my little house.

Congrats to my sister! This baby is one lucky little girl to have her as her mom!

Hazel's Happy Birthday Party

The whole day was kind of haphazard because we threw two parties within hours of each other. But I wanted Hazel's party to feel special. I wanted her to see all the lights and know there was something big about this day. So I went crazy with stars. It's not perfect or "pinteresty" but I think it was perfect for her. And I could NOT have done any of it without the help of our families, and especially my mom who helped from the start.

For those of you who weren't here, I hope you enjoy these photos. And just so you know, the whole thing looked more magical in person. These photos were a rush job.

We had a table with a photo of Hazel, some flowers, star suckers and a wonderful sign that my friend Adrian designed for us! Above that I hung pictures from the past year on a firefly light strand.

For the food we had berry yogurt parfaits since those are some of Hazel's favorite foods. (and I found these glass star bowls at the dollar store!)

Then we had star shaped panini sandwiches. (and a veggie tray, which I didn't feel was photo worthy)

And we made some chocolate stars.

And June couldn't be bothered with picture taking.

Hazel was really into opening her gifts, it was super cute.

When it came time to have her eat her cake, she was very delicate about the whole process, eating mostly the crumbs that fell around it. So I smashed her hand into the frosting and that was it. She started bawling and wanted nothing to do with it after that point. haha oops!

It was a special birthday. We had good friends show up, including Carrie and her family from out of town. And then my family came into town from Boise and Buck's parents came too from North Carolina!  And all this visiting and birthday wishing came at a high price- most of our family members got the stomach flu the next day or so! I feel awful about that. But little Hazel is worth it right? :) So thank you all for your love and support! And happy one year Hazel!
