Memorial Weekend- School's Out for Summer!

It was a great long weekend and also extra sweet since it was the last day of school on Friday to start things off right!

First up- the annual neighborhood foam party!

The next day our friends came to visit and we played and made s'mores

Then on the actual holiday of Memorial day I got to go on a hike! I was going to make it a family thing but then June and Winta were sick and Buck kind of wanted to stay home to get stuff done so I went with a friend instead. And it was so beautiful! It was full of wild flowers! It was just what my soul needed!

Then after I got home we took the boat out! Again, Winta and June were sick so it was sad that they weren't with us so we didn't get the tube out or anything but it was fun to drive around and the kids and Buck got in the water to swim! (water wasn't quite warm enough for me... haha)

I dare say it was a great start to the summer, except for the whole having sick kids part.... But otherwise- bring on the sun!

Piano, Horses, Ice Skating, and Swimming Lessons- Oh My!

As we end the month, we end a few of our extra curricular activities and take a break for the summer. We ended up with quite a variety this year and it's been fun but also... it will be very nice to take a break! We are actually going to keep doing horse lessons this summer because that feels like a very summery thing to do. But otherwise we're taking a break! ;)

So I just wanted to make a post to note these other things the kids did, aside from their dance and soccer.

First up: Piano lessons and the recital! June and Hazel take piano and over all they enjoy it but we suck at remembering to practice at home.... but they did great at their recital!

Next up: Ice skating! Rose started taking lessons this January and has loved it! June and Hazel ended up having to come watch her every week since we started horse lessons and we go to those right after ice skating so then June begged to take ice skating too and maybe we should have said no but it's not like we were going out of our way to take her and the lessons aren't expensive so she started too and has loved it. Hazel, meanwhile, is fine not taking lessons haha.

As mentioned above, the girls all started horse riding lessons this year too. I know we sound crazy and like bad parents over scheduling our kids but it's just a thing that kind of fell into our laps and the girls responded to it so well that we've been trying it out. They continue to love it and their teacher too! We will keep going through the summer but here a few photos from the other week.

And finally, there were swimming lessons for Rose and Johnny! They grew so much these past several months in these lessons. Rose is taking a break for summer but we are going to do a few more weeks for Johnny because he's at a point where he can almost swim on his own and it would set him back to stop right now. But anyway, these kids have been working hard!

Phew! It's been a lot to keep track of and it's been more money than we probably should be spending but... it's also been so rewarding to see the kids grow and learn new things! They have enjoyed all the things too and worked hard! I love that they can have a variety of experiences as well to learn about themselves and what calls to their hearts. We'll see where life takes us! But until then- we're taking a break! haha (kind of... ha)
