This year for June's birthday she wanted only and everything unicorns. So unicorns she got!
She woke up excited and ready to party. First we opened some presents. This year she requested a telescope! One evening during a drive, we were all looking at and talking about the stars and then she said, "When it's my birthday I want to ask for a telescope so that I can look at the stars every night! I like learning new things so I want to learn new things for my birthday." I was so excited that she would ask for such a thing so of course we obliged.
But don't worry, she also really wanted some make up. Buck was so upset that I got her red lipstick. ;)
But that morning, he was a good sport about it.
Traditional birthday coffee cake!
And a unicorn dress from her nana and pops to complete the day!
Then it was party time! Of course I
had to utilize
the new stand ;) And actually this was the simplest birthday party I think I've ever thrown but she had a group of friends there and she was happy as could be. There was also A LOT of sugar involved, so, you know, that makes me the best mom?
And she planned out the activities she wanted. First up was pin the horn on the unicorn.
And then she wanted to make unicorn crowns. This was a bit chaotic for me so I didn't get many photos of the finished results but I did get a couple.
And then, once again, thanks to her wonderful Aunt Jade, she had the "most beautiful cake!" any of the girls had ever seen.
And then I turned my back and turned back around and all the kids had opened all the gifts with June. So I have no idea who gave what but thanks everyone! haha
Then while Hazel and Rose napped, June and I played her new board game and with some of her new toys, which, in the end is all she really wants still- un-distracted time with her mom and/or dad.
That evening we met up with some family at "the grape restaurant" (aka Olive Garden, which she always picks and loves.) We brought the cake, because I found out you could do that kind of thing, so that was fun too.
I think she had a magical, colorful, unicorn birthday. Perfect for a
SIX year old. One long legged, imaginative, silly, loving, creative, inventive, playful, sensitive SIX year old.
