Four Months Young

Now that I'm starting to feel like a human again, I realized that I haven't taken the classic monthly photos for Rose. I mean, I don't know that I deliberately did that with June and I believe I didn't think to start with Hazel until like four months also, but whatever. Here we are now! Rose is four months young (as of yesterday.) And she is so wonderful!
She's still pretty calm and easy going. She sleeps well and eats well. She's a little more serious at times and doesn't give out her smiles to just anyone. We still have yet to make her belly laugh, but we have gotten little giggles out.
From the start she has had curious open hands, always more calm if they have something to hold onto. She LOVES her bath. We just hold her in a tub of water and help her float and she kicks and coos and gets instantly upset when we take her out.
She adores her family. She talks the most for June and me, loves to stretch and smile with her daddy, and is quite curious about her ever moving and energetic sister, Hazel.
She loves to make a little crop of spit bubbles and if she's laying down then she's always doing a crazy jig with her feet. She sleeps best fully swaddled and if she's not alone. Even though she will put herself to sleep I find myself wanting to take the time to rock her to sleep instead.
She's shown no interest in any food other than milk. She is breastfed but will take a bottle if needed and that has been amazing! She's our only baby to like a pacifier and I was nervous but I have been loving it! It always calms her down!
She is currently 10 lbs and 23 inches long. I love her little fading pink birth mark in between her blue eyes. She has some dark hairs growing on her head and dark, perfectly curled eye lashes. She also has a crazy little cowlick off to the right at the front of her hair line! It's twisted nicely, just like a little rose bud. :)

We love her so much! She's been so nice to have. With each baby I've been able to enjoy the time more. The love is so pure and simple for a baby. It's rare and grows quickly into a more complex world of love so I've been taking in these days. Often times I realize that my face is starting to hurt from smiling so much when I'm around her. Life doesn't get much sweeter than this!

The Rolla' Rink

We were in need of a solid family date. Thank goodness for Saturdays and roller skating rinks.
The girls were able to bring their scooters but Hazel eventually wanted to try some skates as well. Meanwhile June morphed into some coordinated scooter master and was racing around and do one footed spinning tricks. So that was new! We also had Jade and Annika along too. There were also bounce houses and pizza so the girls were thoroughly spoiled.

Annika loves food already!

Happy Reunion

I now know that everything is going to be okay. The air has taken on a spring time shimmer of warmth and breeze. The trees in the neighborhood have little pink and white fireworks exploding at their fingertips. The grass in my yard is thick and vibrant and already scattered with muddy toys and pieces of chalk. And, perhaps most important of all, we took a warm day back up at our spot in the mountains, healing those winter blues.

And all is right with the world once again.

There was a man there panning for gold and the kids loved watching him and he was super friendly.

We went home messy and happy. It was a most happy reunion with our mountains.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

 Happy St. Patrick's day!
This year I made a rainbow balloon arch over the table, tied to two pots of gold (chocolate coins.) There were some green streamers and a four leaf clover on the wall. And then I had rainbow vases (I love you doller store!) with white flowers. I'll admit, I was pretty proud and happy with how it turned out. The best part was seeing the girls' reactions when they woke up that morning. They loved what I did. “Patrick's day is my FAVORITE DAY!” exclaimed Hazel. I made them green eggs for breakfast and served that with a plate of rainbow fruits. Then we had a treat of chocolate lucky charms cereal.

We had a family from the neighborhood over for dinner. Dinner was good. The kids played well. We had corned beef and cabbage, rainbow jello, and Irish soda bread. And of course some butterscotch beer. And my friend made shortbread cookies. T'was a good, green day.

One little thing I never want to forget is how the girls went around all week talking about how, "If you don't wear green then you get stinged!" And I thought it was funny so I didn't correct them.

The night before I let the girls decorate some cheap green shirts and we made a onesie for Rose.
And I got to debut my new outfit that I deliriously bought the other week while I had the stomach flu and almost puked in the dressing room!
 A leprechaun stealing me gold!

Some food photos. And yes, that jello took all day to make.

 Dinner settings!

And then we were having fun with our guests so I didn't remember to take anymore photos. But we had a great day! I love silly holidays even if the traditions are random. But hey, whatever gives us the excuse to eat cereal with rainbow marshmallows in it is a great holiday, right? I hope you all had a pinch-free day!
