Berry Picking

Last week we got to go on our annual raspberry picking adventure! See the first time HERE or last year HERE.

We always enjoy going, and even though the company we bring changes a little every year, (first two years my sister was here. Sad not to have her this time) we love this new tradition. The place we go to is so calming. The owners are this old couple and they are so friendly and chatty. They have a bunch of wild flowers for you to pick as you leave for free. There are rows and rows of berries and only a handful of people there. There is a wall of tall trees that play the wind that weaves through them. And for one day, you're just not afraid of bees, you mingle with them.

It's about 185% better than going to the grocery store and grabbing a small case of over prices berries.

It's things like this that make me wonder if I'd rather churn my own butter and bake bread every day. (Too extreme...?)
 
Also, June was the cutest little girl. She loves to find and pick the red berries. They gave her her own little bucket to fill. She would put maybe five in and then eat them, then repeat this process.

We came home with SIX pounds of berries! Awesome. Jade made some raspberry tarts that night. We have since eaten an entire container (out of the three) and have plans for some french dessert, jam, and more dinner side dishes. We love it.

Anniversary Getaway

For our three year anniversary, we celebrated early because my parents were in town so they were able to watch June. Buck and I decided to go to a bed and breakfast inn, because we love those. We ended up choosing one that was originally an old farm house and it was in the middle of nowhere. It was perfect. There were a few rooms in the house but we were the only two staying that night so we had the entire house to ourselves! We had the only room upstairs anyways and it was perfect. I even got to take a milk bath in a claw foot tub! I feel like even though that was never a goal that I wrote down, that I still accomplished one by doing this.

We arrived at dusk and the whole setting was so enchanting that I want to move there. But maybe only in the summers...

For breakfast the hostess made us some yummy crepes. After that we explored a little more and then we were off to go horse back riding!

Anniversary Getaway- Horse Back Riding

After staying the night in the middle of nowhere we drove to another middle-of-nowhere to go horse back riding. This place could not have been more perfect. This company owns like 9,000 acres of land, so throughout the hour ride we went on we got to see open space and mountains, meadows of yellow flowers and purple thistles, a thick forest of aspen trees, and go by a river. We were the only two people on this trip so it was just us and the guide, who was super friendly. So we talked sometimes as we rode and then other times we were completely silent as the slight breeze circled around us. It was therapeutic and wonderful. All we could talk about on the way home was how we could move to Oakley Utah, or at least get a summer cabin there some day. We are not made for the city, folks.
