You see, last week Buck came home from work and said that I needed to hurry and take a nice picture of him and June together for his boss. Weird right? But I guess I'd believe anything he says because I came out and proceeded to get my camera.
Inside the bag I found a post-it note with an inside joke on it and then below that?
There it sat.
A NEW camera.
Wow.
So let's back it up real quick and let me explain. My digital SLR camera has been slowing dying, a long, painful death. Most of the photo shoots I've done in the past year have been with a borrowed camera. My camera is a good 6 or 7 years old, which in the world of DSLR's is ancient. Hence the dying.
I was extra surprised to see the new camera because I know our budget and I know that is not in it. But I guess that Buck has been saving his personal money on the side for quite some time now. (and he found an AMAZING deal on it)
But really, it's not about the price of gifts AT ALL, what is so special to me about this was the thought. Photography has been a part of me for almost 12 years now. (holy cow, that was longer than I thought) Sure, we've had some fights over the years but photography and me have stayed together through it all. I don't photograph now because it is so trendy in today's world, I do it because of a passion I found when I was 14. I'm glad Buck wants to help me continue in this!
So, anyway.
I should also give a big THANKS to my dad, who got the first camera. It's been a solider. And it's taken thousands of photos. May it rest in peace.
