Happy 7th Birthday Johnny!

HAPPY 7th BIRTHDAY, JOHNNY!

Dear Johnny,

You are so excited to turn 7! You also can't stop reminding me that this means next year you're 8 and that means you get baptized and "Are you freaked out that I'm getting so old, Mom?" Well, yes, yes I am as a matter of fact. You still feel like my little boy but you sure are getting taller and I really can't pick you up anymore. :( But look how handsome you're becoming!

You've had a full year of teasing your sisters. You're a goof ball and you're jam packed full of energy! It's hard to get you to sit still and eat your food, even when you're so hungry. You've just got a million things on your mind that you are excited to do. You are silly and you love to joke and laugh.

You've done a few different things this year that were fun. You did horse riding lessons for a while and did a season of flag football. You did basketball again and are starting rock climbing classes soon! You also like crafting and art with Hazel, legos, and building other things. Your favorite thing in the world is getting treats at Maverick.

You also love swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking, and bike riding. I love it so much! You love the outdoors and are always asking for us to go camping and such. I'm hopeful this will be a core part of your life. We went on a hike to a waterfall and you saved your lunch so you could eat it by the water and you just sat there with your sandwich enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature.

You still love to play dress ups and be a ninja or park ranger or astronaut. It was fun to take a variety of photos showing what a goof you are and how fun it is that you still love to play with your imagination.

You love family road trips and reading books. It's been fun to see your ability to read explode this year! I also love nothing more than bedtime and reading books together. You still love and NEED your lullaby at night too. And your special blankets and "Norman" the bush rat stuffy. Some other fun things are you whistle around the house and are often singing to yourself.  You've made so many friends at school and in the neighborhood. You even had your first real girl friend this past school year! haha She even gifted you a Maverick gift card. 😅

She also broke up with you one day and then had the nerve to ask your best friend if he'd play with her at recess and your friend said Yes. You came home so sad and heart broken. I was surprised how much it affected you at such a young age. But you have a tender and kind heart.

With your kind heart you still save bugs and love to go for walks and hold my hand. You love sunsets and sunrises and you get excited and come to tell me when they are happening. You also appreciate colorful flowers and waterfalls and the beautiful things of this earth.

This past year, above all else, you love your dad! You are always wanting time with him. You want to go for drives with him, play catch with him, watch shows with him, wrestle him, or play a game. Anything with Dad and you're in!

Except for those bedtime lullabies and back scratches. You still want me more for those. ;)

Johnny you are truly such a delight and we love you SO MUCH! It's such a joy watching you grow up and I can't believe we're so blessed to have you and that I get the privilege of having the best son in the world. I truly feel that way! We hope you have the best birthday ever! Here's to another year!

P.S. You wanted some photos with the cats. haha

Some good Johnny quotes from the year:

"Mom, why did God make bears?"
"Why do you think he made bears?"
"To make the world nature-y?"

Johnny- "I want to have a microwave party!"
June- "How do you do that?"
Johnny- "You put microwaves all over the house!"
June- "Why would you do that?"
Johnny- "....For no reason!"

Johnny goes to blow out a candle and sees all the melted wax surrounding the flame, "Wow mom! Look at all that candle juice!"

While in the car, a commercial comes on the radio. After listening to it Johnny replies, "Mom, I want a credit card with interest!"
"And why would you want that?!"
"Because it would be interesting!"

Johnny descibing his drawing of a Jam store/stand that he wanted to make to sell jam, " If a mom and her sassy kid walked by my jam store and the sassy kid said, 'Mom, look at that sign. I don't want to go there.' But the mom wasn't sassy so she'd say, 'No, look at the hard work he did! Let's go to his jam store!'"

Unsure of the current proper term for dwarfs, Anna said, "They are just people who are born short." To which Johnny replied, "Mom, all people are born short!"

While Rose is belly dancing to a Snoop Dog song Johnny says, "What have you done to this bless-ed child?!"

After having some caffeine free coke, Johnny exclaims, "I can't wait to be an adult and have caffeine! When I'm an adult, coke is going to be my adult drink!"

"Mom why don't you buy Charmin ultra (toilet paper)? It cleans better and has an easier rip!"
