Because You know I can fill up a blog post with photos just of the airplane travels. 😜
We went on a Disney Cruise! It was our family Christmas gift this year. We were able to go thanks to my parents finding a huge deal where all the kids sailed for free! I thought we'd never be able to go on such a vacation but all the sudden it worked out! So anyway, very grateful.
But to get on a cruise we had to fly across country to get to the port first, which for us was in Miami Florida! We left on Thursday, January 19th, a couple days early in case of any travel issues. Well, we ended up with some issues but thankfully still made it okay.
We had a direct flight from SLC to Miami but that flight ended up being delayed about four hours. But we didn't know about it until we were in the airport and they kept inching back the time as it went... you know how it goes. And they kept changing our gate! So we were moving all over the terminal.
And why was it soooo delayed...? According to the airline, it was a clogged sink.... Like, let us on the plane and we'll snake the dang sink! But anyway.... the kids did great and didn't even play on their tablets that whole time! (I knew I needed to save those for the long flight.)
Finally on the flight! Our kids haven't flown in a few years so Hazel, Rose and Johnny didn't really remember it at all so it felt like the first time and they loved it!
Now fast forward to the end of the vacation- We weren't as lucky to get a direct flight going home, but had a layover in Denver and our first flight didn't even take off until 5:30 so it was a late night when all was said and done. But thankfully our two flights were mostly on time this time!
But the kids started out tired. We had been up early to get off the ship that day!

We got back to Utah around midnight and then had to trek five miles through the airport to get out and then take a bus to the van and it was SNOWING and SO COLD and not a very nice "Welcome home" if you ask me.... haha But we were all home and in bed around 1:00 am.... no big deal. 😜 But totally worth it for the amazing week we got to spend together!
I kept telling my kids to never lose their wonder of flying in an airplane- that it's such an incredible blessing! Always look out the window at take off and landing, watch the tiny world come and go, see the sun and the clouds and watch as the colors change. Be so kind to and grateful for the pilots and crew members. I'm grateful we were able to travel so far in such a miraculously small amount of time compared to how people traveled for most of the history of this world. What an incredible world we live in!

On one of my trips to Utah a few years ago, I got off the plane and immediately went to a Tabernacle Choir concert. It was the Pioneer Day concert, so one of the songs they sang (of course) was "Come, Come Ye Saints". I sat there listening to that song and realized that only that morning I had been even farther east than Illinois and now here I was, the same day, sitting in the place that the pioneers traveled to...it took them months, and it took me only hours to travel to this place from even farther away. Yes, airplanes are amazing things and we are so fortunate to have this mode of travel available to us!!
