Here in Utah we get an extra holiday- Pioneer day. Buck even got the day before off of work! Last year I went all out dressing like a pioneer, making hand dipped candles, churning butter, and baking bread. haha This year we celebrated differently but still very full of fun things!
First we dragged the kids on a small hike, or a nature walk, as we pitched it to them. We went to Cascade Springs.
The next day, on the actual holiday, we got to go boating.
Then we ate some good food. Some people in Utah instead call Pioneer day "pie and beer day." So to be funny we got root beers and pie as well. ;)
Then we carefully did some fire works with Buck's parents. I thought it was funny to wear my pioneer dress while watching them. So that's what I did. ;)
I'm really grateful for how the two days turned out, especially considering how we threw everything together last minute! It was the perfect family time that we all needed. Hooray for pioneers!

Beautiful hike! I didn't spend enough time in the mountains when I was there.
