Happy Fourth of July!
I feel like the 4th of July is like my Christmas. I mean, summer as a whole is my "christmas" in that it's the time of year I look forward to the most, enjoy the traditions and want to pack it full and not miss a thing! haha (don't worry, we actually spend plenty of lazy days at home too!) But anyway, here's a recap of the most wonderful time of the year. ;)
This year we celebrated in a few ways. To start, we were happy to go to the Colonial Festival. We've gone for two years prior to covid, so we missed it last year. Th kids all seem to enjoy it and I love it too. It's fun to feel patriotic by feeling like you're back in colonial times when the country was born. Not something we get to experience very much here in the wild west! At the festival this year we got to help loom a rug, watch spoons being carved, try and break and eat hard tact, spin tops, watch the printing press and black smith, and learn how paper and books were made. June got a pretend vaccine, learning how they used to do that. We heard some tall tales at the fur trapper tent. We talked to soldiers. And we had applesauce cake and fresh squeezed lemon-aids.
Later that day it was the 4th annual neighborhood bike parade, put on each year by June's best friend. I didn't get very many photos but it was a good, hot time.
Then the next day we went to Thanksgiving point for their firework show and got to enjoy the time hanging out, eating good food, and playing games with some friends and family.
