For the 4th of July week we were able to go to Boise! It was a bit of a last minute decision but I'm glad we were able to make it. We always love going there, especially in summer time. Because summer is best everywhere.
Basically the 4th of July was idyllic. We swam half the day and picked raspberries. Then we were spoiled with smoked brisket (my dad's newest passion and hobby in life) and perfect desserts. Cousins played. My sister made epic tie dye shirts. Then we went to see the fireworks in Meridian. I chalked the girls' hair and they got dazzled up with glow sticks. Doesn't get much better than that!
Also while wearing my shirt I realized that two 4th of July's ago I was wearing this same shirt, celebrating with my family and PREGNANT. haha
The next day we hung out, played, did some shopping and of course lots more time was spent swimming!
This is the dove that a friend gave me for my 18th birthday and it still lives! haha 14 years old!

That evening I also went and met up for ice cream with some of my long time besties from elementary and middle school!
And then that night Rose also got sick. So she was out of commission the next day.
Thankfully Buck and I were still able to go to the temple that morning!
Later that day we went to Eagle Island, a small lake in the middle of nowhere fields. But once you're there it's super nice with sand and grass and lots of shaded trees. The kids have a lot of fun!
My mom also had fun walking around with an inner tube on.
On the way home we had to pull over and pull out my mom's binoculars, that she always has on hand "just in case" and check out a huge bird's nest with large birds of prey nesting in it.
Then there was more swimming in the pool and then off to my sisters house for pizza and homemade ice cream. The girls also got to ride in my dad's classic car. Then we did some little fireworks and ended with a late night of letting the girls sleeping over in a tent. Only June and Ginny lasted. ;)

And... that's where the photos end! Because the last full day Buck and I got sick from Rose and spent the day taking about five naps and being sad. Thankfully by Sunday we were feeling better enough and were able to drive home safely.
So Hooray for Boise and my family! Grateful we were able to make that trip this summer. We have not been able to go anywhere "huge" this year but all of these "little" trips like to Boise, Bear Lake, and such make the summer just as sweet.

Totally didn't even know you posted this until I saw your comment. that is so funny. It sounds like an amazing week and perfect cousin time! And at least you were sick at your parents house so the kids could have time with the grandparents while you napped! And I want to spend more time there!!
Looks like so much fun! I love the summer in Utah / Idaho because no humidity = so pleasant!! I can't wait to get there! Those shirts Erin made are awesome! They remind me of the patriotic shirts my boys and I made back in 2002. We still have one of them--it fits Seth! (Ours were sponge painted, though, not tie dye.)
This looks like such a fun trip! Did you take those underwater ones with your old underwater camera or did you get a waterproof housing for your phone or something?
