When I was a about four or five years old, I remember making paper cones and filling them with flowers and then giving them to the neighbors. I'm pretty sure some of those flowers came from the neighbors' yards.... but the memory is hazy and hey, it's the thought that counts, right?
So now I've tried to carry on this little cheerful tradition with my girls for a couple years now. Our paper cones were nothing too spectacular but we didn't steal any flowers so that's a win. We all picked out some friends or someone we felt needed a boost and it was a happy May Day.

I remember your post long ago of June handing out roses to people. I'll always remember that. Im happy its continuing.
When I was a kid I thought I was doing my neighborhood a service by going around and collecting all the newspapers left on people's driveways. Ha ha! Oops.
Love!!! We had a flower cone of daffodils left on our front door handle that night. Such a sweet gift. I didn't realize May Day was something done on the Mainland too. I'd only ever heard of it in Hawaii. Tradition on!!!
I've always thought it was kind of sad that we don't really celebrate May Day anymore so I love that you do this! I think it would be awesome to get a surprise cone of flowers on the door. I will have to do this next year!
We totally stole ours from around our neighborhood- but we pay rent so it's fine... right?
This really is a great holiday. I want to celebrate it next year.
