I had it in my mind that I was going to make rainbow waffles. I wanted Buck to have some also, and on the week days he is leaving the house at 6:00 am (!) so I made these this past Saturday morning. These waffles may have holes but they still looked cool and tasted good. June even said that they were "so cool!"
I think Miso even thought they were cool.
Later that day Jade and I were back at it again, making sugar cookies. Some of these are kind of silly but I am proud of them. It was quite the process and I'm a little burnt out now so for Easter... maybe cupcakes. ;)
For actual St. Patrick's day today we kept the decorations simple but fun. Honestly I just love holidays and celebrating. But you should know that by now.
For breakfast we had green eggs and rainbow fruit. The girls ate it all too, which is a huge deal around here these days.
So they earned their special treat of Lucky Charms and green milk.
I tried doing a little silly photo shoot like I do every year but Hazel was not having it. ha!
June didn't mind, however.
We spent the day with some friends, bringing the green party to their house. Then June got to go to dance class in her green tinker bell dress.
And after that we played on God's green earth and grass at the park.
For dinner we had green butter beer
And corned beef and cabbage. Which, as I understand it, isn't actually an Irish dish at all. But hey, most of our holidays and traditions in this country are hardly tied to anything real anymore. So whatever. It turned out good! And we felt festive.
No pinches for us today.

Georgia was naughty the night before St. Patricks day so she was put to bed with no stories. Then this morning she was all "where is the green guy that was coming to our house?" Oops.
I made cupcakes but had no decorations... we wore green, had corned beef and cabbage and went to a party though- that's festive enough right?! RIGHT?!
Celebrating is fun. It is late and I am rambling.
Who wouldn't want to eat all those fun rainbow foods. What fun.
I already know you are super into holidays but somehow I'm surprised and impressed each time! I'm glad that June really appreciated the waffles!They were pretty amazing and all of your "simple" decorations!
So much fun stuff! I really like the window cling decoration, for some reason!
Oh and one year when the older 3 boys were little we made little St Patrick's Day boxes and put them "in the light of the moon" the night before the 17th for the Leprechauns to fill. The Leprechauns hid them, but they left a trail of green so the boys found them. They loved it!! But I'm not very good at being consistent with things like that so I haven't done it since.
