I woke up on my birthday to find the traditional birthday coffee cake made by Buck and a few streamers hanging from the ceiling with a balloon. We ate a quiet breakfast together and he let me open my presents. Sadly my birthday was on a Tuesday, and always so close to Thanksgiving that a person can't just take the day off. So away to work Buck went.
When I went in to get June from her crib the first thing she said was "Happy Birthday!" and that was one of the highlights of the day for me. We told her before she went to bed that the next day was my b-day but I didn't think she would remember. It was sweet! And at breakfast she sang me the "happy birthday" song probably 28 times (and made me re-light the candle each time...)
It wasn't long before my friend Tanya came over to hang out. We talked, which is our favorite thing to do, and she gave me a thoughtful gift of two scarfs she made.
Then my friend Emily showed up to take me to lunch. She let me pick wherever I wanted to go- so of course I picked sushi (don't worry I only eat a cooked roll) we had fun and the kids did pretty good!
When I got home there was a surprise of some fancy tea on my counter. I was confused how Tanya got it there before she left without me noticing. As I pondered this I went to clean up June's room for her nap since Her and Rio (Tanya's son) had thrown EVERY TOY into her crib. But to my surprise they had all been taken out and put into a basket! I knew then that Tanya had sneaked into my house (and I remembered that she has a key since she helps out with our pets sometimes.) What great little surprises! And then I went into my room and found flowers! They were from my in-laws and I found out later that as Tanya was leaving the delivery man pulled up so it was some great birthday luck.
Then June took a nap! (best gift of all) and my friend Adrian came over to bring me some milk (because I had made a plea over facebook for someone to bring it. Buck got me birthday cereal but we had no milk! haha) and with her she also brought cup cakes! (I took a photo of them on my phone but it looks awful.)
Then Buck came home early and triumphantly! He had secret plans for the evening and my friend Alicia was on her way to come baby sit June. Buck is a silly man though and forgot to think about the fact that we needed dinner before his secret plan so we got some Arby's. ;) And to the movie theater we went to see a special screening of the movie "The Book Thief." (it doesn't come out till next week.) I was very excited because I looooove that book. (which also made me nervous, whenever you love a book that much you get worried when they make a movie of it you know what I'm saying? You don't want them to ruin it.) Anyway, Buck also loves the book so we were both excited.
When we got there I ran into an old friend/acquaintance. She told us that we had to get tickets still from our vouchers and they might be sold out which ended up being the case. We were bummed and were standing there trying to decide what to do when this friend came up with her date and said that they wanted us to have their two tickets as a birthday gift! This made my day! I love when people are so thoughtful and kind! It made the whole thing even better.
So we got to see the movie after all and we loved it. They did a wonderful job!
Also, Buck made me brownies instead of a cake (at my request) and he tried to make them fancy with a cut out star in the middle :)
I feel blessed to have had a simple day that was full of friends and family showing me that they care. What more could I ask for? It was perfect. 28 should be a good year. :)
Aaannndd here's the shocking truth about how big my belly is at 23 weeks on the day I turned 28 :)
Boom.

You forgot to mention that your sister tried to call you like 5 times and talking to her at 11:30 pm her time was the highlight of your day (haha...). Also, I wish I was there so we could celebrate these things together.
Happy Birthday! I'm excited to hear the Book Thief was good. I love the book and I've been worried about the movie. Also, I love how men don't usually think of meals...somehow they just always have food to eat...I'm proud of Buck for taking care of breakfast and dessert though!
I love The Book Thief too! I didn't know they made a movie of it. That's one I'll have to see. Glad you had a happy day! So cute that June remembered!
