Happy 8th Birthday Johnny!

Dear Johnny,

You are full of energy for all things camping and outdoors, reading Harry Potter, and spending time with your dad. You do love being with me too but you’ve got an extra anxiety about time with your dad! And all you want to do is go camping or backpacking with him or listen to Harry Potter together. 

You love school and friends. You’re social and always have lots of friends. But you still would rather they come paly at your house. When you do go to friends’ houses you often stay for a bit but then announce to the friend and his mom that you’re homesick and ready to go home and away you go! 

You enjoy playing baseball and watching hockey and enjoyed your rock climbing classes this last year. You also requested to learn the piano this past year and have enjoyed those lessons. You even took some tumbling classes and the teacher said you were the best boy she’s taught so far. That surprised us a bit since at home you are famous for dropping and spilling things but on the mat you’ve got natural balance and coordination! 

You love animals, especially cats. You just want to hug them and be with them. But you also love to yell and run and sometimes at them (you’re just bursting with so much energy and love) but that does scare them…. Haha But you’re slowly figuring it out and they are starting to come to you more often and it makes you so happy when they do! 

You love riding your little motorbike. Some of your friends also now have similar bikes and you ride around the neighborhood together in your little biker gang and it’s the cutest. 

Currently you’re obsessed with watching videos about how to build a small camper so that you can attach it to the back of your motor bike and go camping anytime. And of course you want to do this with your dad. 

You have a tender heart. You notice sunsets and get excited to see them. And you cry when the bugs get killed or weeds get pulled because, after all, “They are just trying to live their lives!” 

And my favorite part of all is that you still want to have cuddle time every night and hold our hands as we walk. You slow down on your bike so you can ride by me when I’m on a walk. Or you just want to walk with me. 

I love our little chats at night as we cuddle. You have so many things racing around in that head of yours. And we are so excited to continue to watch you grow and become an amazing man! But for now, we’re okay with things going slow so no rush!

June: I wonder why there are so many "theres" like 'They're,' 'There,' and 'Their.' Why is that?

Johnny: I don't know! Do I look like a founding father?!

Johnny was serving us some dessert and asked Buck what he wanted. Buck asked for a Reese's peanut butter cup. Shortly after Johnny returns with that candy, looking confused, and asks, "So I take this Reese's and put it in a cup with peanut butter?"

Johnny: "Who are we cheering for" 

Sister: "IDK"

 Johnny: "Who is 'IDK'?"

I don't mind if my underwear is hot! (it was fresh from the dryer)

Johnny's prayer one night: Please bless the people that need money because they spent all of their money on instruments and clothing and HATS. Bless them that they can take their hats off and turn them upside down and so that they can get money in them while they play the instruments.

Johnny, failing to find the word for "peas" says, "Mom, it's that vegetable in the weird little pouches!" 

Once in the car to go somewhere in town, Johnny proclaims, "No we're going to Idaho! I have my toast! I'm prepared!"
