Happy 15th Birthday, June Bug!
Dear June,
This last year has been a wild one of some of the best moments and some really hard ones. But such is the life of a teen in the fast lane!
But despite the hard times I am always so impressed and grateful for your ability to get back up again. You forgive easily, you love freely, and you move past things quickly.
You are so talented in many things. You continue to excel in acting! The highlight of the year was when you won second place for your monologue at the big Shakespeare competition. It was truly so cool to watch you get up there and act and put so much emotion into it, and so naturally. I truly cannot wait to see how far you will go with your acting and what you'll accomplish with it!
You continue to be funny and fun and always a favorite of all children. You're a fun and energetic friend as well who can make others laugh. But you are also full of support and love for those in need and I am constantly surprised at the words of wisdom you pull out for others when they are struggling. You have a full and busy social life!
You had some hard people in your school and that caused some really hard days but I am so proud of you for not ultimately giving up. Or giving in. And even when you regret some choices, you learn from them and change things around and go forward with life.
Another fun this this past year is that you started volunteering weekly at a local animal sanctuary and you've been really enjoying that and its been good for you!
You are beautiful and confident and it's fun to watch you bloom. It's truly hard to believe you were once our little June bug! You're certainly not a little girl anymore, and you haven't been for a while. You're figuring out more and more who you are and who you want to be. You are daring, fun, confident, sassy, funny, chatty, and emotional. You are certainly not one to shrink to fit in.
And we love you so very much.
Here's to a new year of connection and continued learning and fine tuning this whole "parenting a teenager" thing. ;) And maybe some driving lessons thrown in there too!
