Happy Anniversary! Eight Years!

(This post contains photos of Buck and myself together from this past year. Fun times. )

You know what feels CRAZY to me? The fact that I just read my anniversary post from last year and in that post I talk about how we had another baby together and we spent the year adjusting to that new baby. Rose wasn't even a one year old yet. Last year- at this same time. We still had an infant.

And now here we are at another anniversary. And guess what- THERE'S NO REST FOR THE WEARY. Somehow we have ANOTHER baby! Okay so this is probably not crazy to anyone else but for us? This feels nuts! Our three girls are all over two and a half years apart but this time Rose and Johnny are only 20 months apart!

Did you think this was a post about marriage or kids? That's a good question.

We've now been married eight years. Eight! So wonderful. And during that time we've added FOUR children into this family we started. That means I've been pregnant or nursing a baby for most of our marriage. haha. (gasp!)

And this year is no exception. We were still adjusting to having three kids, still pretty tired and dazed when we got pregnant with Johnny. Then we added in there building a house and moving and having that baby. So if you're wondering if we're still tired and dazed then the answer would be a resounded YES.

Aside from babies, this past year was still pretty full of life living. We sheared some llamas, did some service, camped, went to a couple funerals and weddings, picked some raspberries, carved some pumpkins, went to Italy, celebrated holidays, went bowling, had some birthdays, explored some festivals, built a new house, sold our old house, moved into new house, went to the temple every month, somehow had some dates in there and also managed a couple over night getaways from our kids!

I remember thinking that last year we had just survived our hardest year of marriage yet. But I think this past one was even harder. Not in a scary way- but in a "that's-how-life-goes" sort of way. As you can see, it's been busy. And on top of all that I wrote about, there was more AND the stresses of Buck's work life and me dealing with the ups and downs of hormone madness in pregnancy. And I guess we've had a lot to work through. We've had to learn how to listen to each other in new ways. We've been seeing just how different we really are, and learning again, in some hard but worth it ways,  how perfect it somehow makes us together.

And as we enter into year nine of marriage, looking back over a couple of messy, tiring years, I get to end this out feeling now stronger and closer to Buck than I think I ever have. These past couple of weeks after giving birth, leading to this anniversary, Buck has taken better care of me than ever before. And it's because of all the lessons we've been willing to learn together. And I hope I've been able to take better care of him than ever before, despite my postpartum limitations.

And I am truly so curious and excited to see where life takes us next. I am grateful to continually get lost together because every time we find ourselves again- best friends, lovers, partners, not just parents together but also husband and wife.

Happy eight years, Buck.

I was thinking of you and totally remembered it was your anniversary this morning! Happy Anniversary! Guess what....maybe you wont be as tired on your 9th or 10th and so on....unless, of course you decide to have more babies! haha! You are such a power team and thank goodness those exhausting little souls have you as parents! Its probably only exhausting because you work so hard to parent so well! Apparently this comment is about children as well. Ok I'm done!

I had my first 3 boys in a little over 4 years (and had our 7 year anniversary when number 3 was 6 months old). Our boys were mostly 2 years apart, but number 3 was born a month before number 2 turned two. It's definitely crazy and exhausting! I can relate to what you are saying. It will get better! :) Congratulations on making it through another challenging year and for accomplishing so much! You two are perfect together and you have a wonderful family.

Exhausting? Yes of course. But I do know that on some future day you will know how worth it all of it has been. The most important thing is that you do allow yourselves to grow and push through and except the changes and instead of pushing it all away you do try to use it to grow closer together. It is exhausting to be a good parent and a good spouse so yeah to being tired, ( I think) 😉.
