Spring Break

Last week was our first official "Spring Break" as a family with a real live kid in a real school that has such a thing. I remember when I was on the kid side and it was my spring break. How am I on the parent side now?! Either way, we stayed home and tried to make it a fun and random week around town.

First up, visiting baby chicks at our friend's house. Turns out this was more exciting for me than the girls.

One day we visited Buck at work and the girls raided the pop tart stash. Also, their aunt Lauren works there too so it was a double whammy. (do people say that anymore? oh well.)

While we were in the area I took the girls to Wheeler Farms to see the farm animals and to explore. There will be a separate post on this later!

We also visited the animal shelter so we could pet the cats. One cat moved and Hazel ran out of the room screaming like a ravenous lion was chasing her for his dinner! What on earth?

The next day the girls got to go play at their favorite friend's house and after that we headed up to the mountains with some friends. It was a little chilly during the first part of the week but I was determined to get outdoors. There will be a separate post for this outing as well. You know me and my mountain posts....

Then Buck took the rest of the week off of work! The best! So there was lots of lounging.

And one evening we went to the Tulip Festival at the gardens. (and I took Hazel's late birthday photos.) There will also be a separate post for this also, aside from the birthday one.

Then we spent hours waiting to get passports!

But the girls were rewarded with swimming!

And that evening we finally went to Beauty and the Beast, which we all enjoyed.

And then on Saturday we went to the new luxurious driving range with Buck's family to celebrate Jade's husband's graduation. We all had a blast!
 Buck teaching me the moves.

And how else to end the spring break but to go to some super random open house for a super random castle house? No better way.
  Darth was even there.

And that concludes the spring break! I did my best to make it fun and I also tried to do the responsible mom thing and had June practice her reading every day AND I made real breakfasts every morning so we got a break from cereal. A lot of people go to Disneyland and stuff but whatever, I didn't have to go that far to see a castle and meet a character. ;) And now- here's looking at you summer break!

Our spring break just started today. I wonder if I can find a castle house somewhere around here to visit?
