Tulip Festival (with some June views!)

Last year we went to the Tulip Festival like 8 times. This year we only made it there once! But it was a good evening. I went early with the girls, had a dinner picnic, and then Buck and his family all met us there after work.
I LOVE this photo. So happy that sister is coming her way!
Weird brothers...

June's photos

I also let June carry around my camera for a while. She's been loving taking photos and who am I to stop that passion from growing? ;) Honestly, I know a lot of photos are luck, but hey it's that way for adults too! But there are very specific things that she sees and tells me about as she photographs them. We talk about how you can take photos in new ways, the way you see them, or show how people or things make you feel. And at any rate, I'm totally going to enter one of her photos in the contest they have, so help me decide which one!

She likes all the people even if we don't know them

She was trying to get the bee...
 And she got him!

I love this one because she gave very specific directions for Buck. While most photographers tell the subjects to smile June instead prompted, "Make that face that you made when you was a little kid on the Disneyland ride." And this was the result:
And this was hilarious. All the adults piled in for a photo and the four year old taking the picture. Some people walked by and offered to take it for her so she could be in the photo.... hahaha "No no," we insisted, "She's fine!"  We must have looked odd.

So- which ones should we enter?!

Holy Crap!!! June is good...I'm so proud...(and a little envious) of her talent!! Her first two photos stood out to me but there are really so many I like. Plus I liked hearing the stories and her thoughts behind many of them...

So, before that, I love the sister pictures of them picnicing together and I was thinking how cute sisters are and what a precious relationship they have that is different than my boys...then I kept scrolling and saw the "brother" picture of Buck and Ben and I was thinking...yup, that's what I get!

Haha! Lots of comments if I can remember them all ;)

1. I love the snuggly sister photos
2. Impressive braid. Did you braid that on yourself?!
3. I stared at that photo looking for the bee for the longest time! Haha! Don't worry. I finally found it.
4. For June I vote the umbrellas or the trees under it.
5. Love the photo of the random lady
6. Look out world, June is going to be a photo master by 12 if she keeps this up! I sort of want to give Elora my camera and see how she does, but really her little camera provides a lot of entertainment as well. I know she would be careful, but I am still sort of afraid of her dropping it or something.
7. Also, not related. How is the phone?

I really love the picture of the people with the umbrellas, but the picture of the bee made me smile as well!

So I have picked several and they are in order just from top to bottom :
- The first picture of the tulips where the front ones are in focus and may be in second place the picture of the umbrellas
- Picture of the knotty tree trunk
- The close-up of the purple flowers, the single to left, and the little pink flowers on the bush and the red poppy
- The birdhouse
-Anna with hazel and Hazel alone
- the purple flowers with bee
- light Sunflare on the trees and bushes. Not the Sunflare where the arch is.
I love the group picture but I don't know that I would enter that one. I think it's funny that she was the one taking the picture and that everyone wanted to volunteer to do it so she could be in it.
There you have my thoughts. Good luck in picking one.

My favorites are numbers 2, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, and 20.

You should enter some of your photos, too. Wow, this place is amazing!!! I wish I could go there. I love how your photos capture the family relationships too. This is the first year in a long time that I haven't had tulips in my yard (I need to plant new bulbs this fall) and I have really missed them!!

Oh man, am I behind on reading your blog! That's what happens when your phone goes bizerk and you delete every app...

Anyway, so, Rio stole my phone and took some pictures. Yeah, he's got nothing on June. Nothing. Girl knows what she's doing! :)
