The zoo feels like it's far away. It's a good 40 minute drive to get there and you have to get through Salt Lake traffic as well. WE also have so many passes to fun places near us, so needless to say, we don't go to the zoo very often. But June's been asking for a while and I realized that soon the summer crowds will be upon us so we made a day of it and went! We even talked our friends into coming and letting Rio skip school!
It ended up being a chilly day but it wasn't crowded. But I'll admit, I was a little in irritated mom mode as the girls just ran off and never listened. haha And then there were all these animal statues and the kids seemed to care more about those than the real deal! I was like, "We did not drive all this way for you to climb on metal!" ;)
But yet, apparently we did.
Hazel was actually more into the actual animals and that was fun.
Oh- and then the bubbles! Forget the animals- BUBBLES.
But we did get a show from a peacock. His feathers were out and anytime one of the chickens passed by he would shake his whole body, the feathers vibrating almost like the tail of a rattle snake, and the chickens would squawk and run away terrified. It was hilarious.
But forget it, we passed by this freaking lion statue again on the way out and he demanded to be climbed once again.
And then the begging for coins to make a wish in the fountain.
Crazy kids.
But it was a good day over all and I'm glad we went, statues and all. :)

Haha! Being a mom is ridiculous sometimes. We try so hard to pull something off that's unique or fun and the kids like the sucker they got better than the experience. Bah! Haha! They had fun though right? That's what you were going for. :)
Holy Awesome peacock pictures!! And our zoo is not even that far and Charlie has been asking to go and I haven't taken him for those same reasons. haha!

Okay, I admit it...the last time I went to the zoo I realized that I could go the rest of my life without ever setting foot in a zoo again and I would not be sad about it!! Our zoo is also about 40 minutes away and you have to drive through some crazy DC traffic to get there. (But BONUS: admission to the National Zoo is FREE! They make up for some of it with the parking fees.) I guess I need to go really early in the morning...they say the animals are the most active then. It seems like every time I go to the zoo, all the animals are asleep or just plain invisible. And it's exhausting walking walking around, and it seems like it's either super hot or really cold on the days I end up going. Don't even get me started on how the kids always run off and don't listen to me! See, I can be an irritated Mom too! ;)
So fun when you get to see a peacock pull out his feathers. So even though I know kids like to climb no matter what when you add A boy into the mix you're going to get even more of that. Go figure :-) looks like a fun day.
