Last weekend Buck and I were finally able to go on a date!! (actually two, a record! but this post is only about the first one.) Not only did we get out and about, but we got to go to something that I've been wanting to check out for a few years now.
The Scottish Festival.
Because you know me and festivals. We're bff's.
And the evening turned out better than I could've dreamed.
We got there and the air filled with live bagpipe music. Every
other man that walked by had on a kilt.
There were booths everywhere.
Some selling swords, carvings for your family clan, ginger beer, and
metal dragons. There was one with some sort of Scottish dog that was
nearly the size of a small horse. There was another one to represent the
pagans.
Creepy unicorn....
We walked around and sat down to listen to a song of from the
concert.
Then we got some scones and welsh cakes with lemon curd and
Devon shire cream with jams. it was good!
After that we wandered into
a tent selling corsets and skirts. I tried one on. All the sales
women were gawking over the one I was wearing. The girl lacing me up kept slathering on the compliments. My long blonde hair spilled down
my back and everyone said I was a princess. And I guess it all kind
of got to me, they did their job right and I fell for the tricks! Because we ended up buying a
corset and a skirt! And I
mean, it was so painful and I could hardly breathe. Yet for some
reason I felt pretty...? Why are women so silly? Who
knows!
But at the same time it was invigorating and exciting. To drop
money on something SO random. It tapped into my true self: Doing
something outside of the rules. I mean, I wasn't alone in this
either- Buck was all about it too! So as we walked out of that tent
Buck walking into another saying that he needed to buy himself
something now. So he basically bought the first thing he saw- a
leather book with a tree imprinted on it, filled with hand made paper.
I'm glad the neighboring tent at least had something cool. He
probably would have purchased socks if that's what was there.
The good news is that it was a great date night.
And now I'm ready to be a pirate bar wench? Or Halloween, I'm ready for that, and that's probably more appropriate.

Ha ha. You always didn't want to buy a corset. Another one of your life goals checked off.
We went to an Irish festival once and there were some cool things, but it wasn't as cool as your Scottish festival. Of course, there was no one selling corsets at the Irish festival...
I was really hoping that Buck ended up buying a kilt!
