Travel Log- The Birthday

Our week in DC and Virginia was INSANE. It was six different trips packed into one: trip to see family, trip to reunite best friends, a trip to see a best friend get married, a trip to be a wedding photographer, a trip to be a tourist, and Buck's birthday thrown in there. Fhew! I haven't pushed my self so far in a long time. And I'm not saying that I'm that old or anything but at the same time, I am not as young as I once was. And this week about killed us off. But it was worth it!

I still can't get over the fact that both Buck and I spent our most recent birthdays in DC, Virgina, AND with Erin and Buck's parents on the East coast. What the random?! Also, that night we had to drive somewhere and went to the exit where "Anna's Lake" is, and we drove past that on my birthday too! Maybe nobody else finds this as bizarre as we do, but come on. It's fate or something.

The night before his birthday we went out to eat and of course got Sushi. After that Buck and I escaped and went to stay at a hotel while June had a slumber party with her aunt.  It was perfect. And we got to sit in a hot tub.

On the morning of his birthday we went to eat a fun diner, where he got sung to and had to blow out a lighter since the place didn't have candles...

Then I surprised Buck and decorated the rental car. Like a three year old...

After that we all went to the zoo. Which was a windy day so kind of cold, which was a bummer. But I think everyone still had fun.

Monkey in the mist...

And then we went to the National Cathedral, which was epic.

After that we went back to the hotel and surprised him with birthday rice crispy treats and peanut butter cookies. I also brought silly nose cups, so you know, it was a hopping party. And WE had candles but no lighter. ha

After that Buck and I had to drive back to Virgina for the wedding rehearsal dinner and a bachelorette party (Buck watched a baby and did some homework during the party...) But God was kind and gave Buck a great birthday sunset.

Oh and these clouds with silver linings.

Happy Birthday Buck!!

The whole week may have been busy and limited time with June but Buck and I were side by side the whole time. I loved it. He was amazing! He helped me so much with the wedding photography and he was so supportive and encouraging and loving and kind and I could go on and on. The whole week I just kept marveling that he is mine. How on earth did I get so lucky and blessed? I'm grateful that every new trip, every day, every moment seems to bring us closer, not drift us apart. I feel so strong next to him. I get to continue getting to know him and I love him more with every new thing.

Yeah you are pretty lucky allright... which I'm pretty happy about. That nose cup makes your nose look GIGANTIC and Buck's nose look... smaller than it should be.
