Comments

I'm not sure why but comments matter to me. Some days I'm like, "whatever, who cares" and other days I'm like, "I'm never blogging again because nobody likes me!" and in the end the truth is the same, I appreciate comments.

I'm actually not completely sure why. Do I have some need to feel popular? Am I that pathetic?
Or is it just validation? Sometimes I feel like I'm having a one-sided conversation, and when I'm having one of those I usually just stop talking (doesn't everyone?) But then again, I am only writing a blog post, not sitting down to chat with anyone. What can I expect?

Maybe it's because I generally comment on people's blogs. For me it's a way to say "hey, I'm glad you're here and I care about you." Right?

Sometimes I've posted something and thought, "people will like this!" and then really it's only my two aunts who do- haha! I guess I don't really know what any of you like, except photos of June. ;)

In the end I want to thank those of you who DO comment. I consider you my audience. And no, I don't need everyone to comment on EVERY post but the occasional "hey, I'm still here and care about you" comment has been appreciated.

Here are the people I  know read this and a little shout out to you:

My aunts. Especially you aunt Annette! You're my most faithful reader and commenter. Thanks for making me feel special and interesting.

And Rachelle- you always get around to reading my blog and commenting on it- so thanks! And you comment on just about every post and I really do love that.

And Shellie, sometimes you come here too and I appreciate it.

Also, I think that you, uncle Hans, read this too occasionally. Thanks for the comments you've left before to let me know.

Grandma and Grandpa. I know you are reading this but you don't comment because you don't know how. But you have emailed me before about it or commented to my face. I always know you read it. :)

Mom and Dad and Erin. Of course you read it and occasionally comment. So thank you. ;)

Buck, darling. Half the time I make you read a post before it's even posted. :) Even then sometimes you will come on and comment to make me feel better. haha

My in laws- (Well, my brother law is a follower but I don't actually think he's ever looked much, which is fine, what can you expect from a busy guy? My sister in law doesn't really read any blogs so that's understandable.) But Jan and maybe Dennis, if you still read my blog :) thanks for commenting on facebook when you really like a post. ;)

Carrie, of course you read this and you have gotten better at commenting so thanks and good job and keep up the feel-good work. ;)

Audrey, Kathryn, and Amy nicole- my wonderful friends from Hawaii. (well, Kathryn was long before that but that's when we really became close) I always love reading your blogs and I appreciate that you read mine and comment like you do. :) Especially you Amy- you usually make your way to my blog (and get blasted with a billion new posts) but you comment on nearly every single one. haha- thanks!

Dayna, sometimes you leave the "anonymous" comment but sign your name at the bottom. I'm always happy when I see that and remember that you read this too!

Jodi and Rebecca- my Kuyrs. I know that you are always there. :) Shat shnorhakalutyun. ksharunakek comment-el-u im blog-i medg And Leah, you're in the tropics but you say you will read this so just in case- I love you!

-----------------------------------

And... that's who I can think of! I know there are a couple of you who come here sometimes but I'm not sure how often so I didn't mention it. So just so you know, you are all the ones who I think of when I'm posting, you're my family and friends. Thanks for the support and letting me know that you know I'm here in my little corner of the world.

If you're reading this and you were not mentioned it's because I have no idea you read this blog. But- I would LOVE to know.

And if ever you see a lonely comment-less post, don't be shy. Help a sister out and encourage me to keep writing or photographing.

HAHA, earlier today I read all your new blog posts and I didn't even know where to start with comments because I was so excited about all the new posts to read. So I just didn't comment. But I do always read your blog and I always look forward to your comments on ours! I'll do better about my commenting!

Haha oh Anna I love you. And I feel exactly the same way. It takes a lot of effort to blog, so of course I check back for comments about once an hour after I write one, haha. I love keeping up with your life and I'm sorry I don't always comment on every post, but I love reading about and seeing your crazy adventures! especially your random date ideas-you guys crack me up with your creativity! And thanks for commenting on my blog too. I'm glad we're friends. :-)

i stalk and never comment! i like your pictures and think june is pretty much the cutest little thing ever. also my soon is joony (junior) so i feel like they're kindred spirits...or something. i'll be better about commenting...it does make me feel less creepy to comment! and i totally know the feeling of thinking no one reads when the comment ticker reads '0.' it's like, "i blog for me and i'd do it if no one read...but i think people do read..so why no comments?" and then you sob and eat ice cream in the corner for a week...right? no? just me? well, anyways. hi. i read. :)

You are great. I definitely know what you mean about commenting. It sucks have people look at it and care about your blog, but not voice it on the blog...if that makes sense.

Well, Anna, I would have given up blogging a long time ago if I was doing it for comments! :) I only get comments from you and Rachelle and sometimes one of my siblings. (My brothers only comment to correct me...hahaha!) My blog is a replacement of my weekly emails which replaced my weekly handwritten letters to my parents, which I started writing back in 1997 when we moved to New York from Utah. So I keep doing it because I know my parents are reading them even though, as you said, they don't know how to comment. Also, now that the years have gone by I love going back to read my old weekly emails because there is so much stuff in there that I've forgotten all about, especially with the boys. Between then and now, they have somehow turned into teenagers and almost adults instead of babies and preschoolers! So believe me, you'll be glad you are keeping such a great record of the things you are doing and thinking about. I understand how you feel about comments, though--when I get a comment, it makes my day! :)

Awww... I love reading your blog!! But if I don't comment it's probably because one of my kids just dumped an entire container of dishwasher soap all over the floor or is playing in the toilet. Haha. I live on the edge!! Your blog is awesome and I love reading it!! You're so good at finding beauty and humor in life and I love it!

I get it, it's nice to know SOMEONE cares. I just noticed on my blog (a month or so ago)that it shows how many views a post got and more people, like WAY more people, read than comment...I am a talker and a commenter, a communicator blah, blah, blah...sorry I am slow to read them but I usually read ALL of them, yes I am weird like that.
