The next morning we attempted to make breakfast all together outside and then the rain hit and it was kind of wild. But all you can do is laugh and move forward! not sure why we did it outside when there were also two motor homes there with Buck's parent's and brother. haha
Then we went and did a cave tour of the Minnetonka caves! We got tickets to this cave tour long before we had out plans to go to Colorado, where we also ended up doing a cave tour this summer, so it's kind of funny that we ended up in so many caves recently.
They got cold and discouraged.
But then! A miracle and the sun came out and all happiness was restored!
Dinner and hanging out and later on, S'mores.
Johnny's tent
That night we could see a storm off in the distance but Johnny was determined to stay the night in his tent. Buck and I were in our pop up tent trailer and the girls were spoiled in their grandparent's motor home, so that left Johnny alone in his tent. But he didn't mind.
But sure enough in the middle of the night the storm blew in right on top of us with intense close lightening and thunder and wind and rain. We woke up and I panicked and Buck went into the storm to go get Johnny to bring him back to be with us but once Buck was there Johnny told him he wanted to stay in his tent in the storm!
That morning he was happy and content and enjoyed him time "real camping."
The kid who, when at home, never wants to be alone, slept in a tent all night alone in a huge storm. Guess camping brings out the man in Johnny!
We had breakfast and then had to pack up and say good bye to our favorite spot.
And this kid who can never clean his room, took the initiative and packed up his tent too!
He also wanted to try out his new filtered water bottle he got for his birthday!
So yes! A wild and great little weekend away from it all!
