Oregon Day 4- Airplanes and Ocean

The next day we packed up and headed for the ocean. We left before the Baertleins and on our way we found a huge airplane museum in the middle of nowhere so we stopped to see what it was and decided to be spontaneous and just pay to go inside since we had a bit of time before they caught up to us. It was so fun! The airplanes were anything from small airplanes that showed what the very first ones looked like all the way to huge military planes that they somehow fit into the building. It was incredible! Then our admission also got us into the space museum on the other side of the parking lot where they had all these rockets and rovers and stuff! It was really cool and the kids loved it and sometimes those things being spontaneous make it feel even better.

Baertleins met up with us there and the kids all played on the playground there too for a bit and then we traveled on. We were going to go on a hike but as we went up these small, windy mountain roads there were fallen trees all over and the road was getting sketchy..... and finally.... a sign saying the rest of the road and hike were closed due to too many downed trees from a snow storm. Crazy! We looked up other hikes too but people had reviewed the day before that it was soooo muddy. So we decided to just go to our campsite instead. Also it was non stop rain that day.

But on the way we stopped at an ocean side cafe Mo's, and had some good food- I had clam chowder and crab legs- heaven! The kids all got root beer floats so they thought they won the lottery.

 

After that we checked into our yurts. They were nicer than I thought they would be! They are little yurts but enough beds for our family and a small table, two chairs, a heater and even some hooks and a broom. Oh and our own porch too. (Which poor Buck slid down the steps and hurt his arm on but thankfully didn't break anything.)

 

After we all got settled in our neighboring yurts, we walked to the beach, which is only like a two minute walk. It's incredible to go from a green huge forest to the beach in minutes like that.

It was so rainy but the kids had their rain boots and ponchos on so they went for it. That was fun in some ways but it was so wet and cold. We made dinner back at camp but it was wet too and the fire could hardly survive all the rain. The kids explored around a bit and we all ate but then we were just wet and cold and done so we all went to bed. And yes, I thought, “This would be really nice without this rain!” but I had also mentally prepared for this so I wasn't grumpy about it. A little cold and miserable haha but it was apart of the adventure.
