Cecret Lake

This past weekend we decided to end our summer break the best way possible and went on a family hike! We went with my cousin Alyse and her husband and two boys as well and it was so great! We woke up everyone early in the morning so that we could get there and I'm so happy that we did. Our hike up to the lake was perfect with only a few people we passed on the trail. We found our own little spot at the lake too and it was wonderful! But as we hiked back down there were so many people! The early bird wins again.

This hike was a little more difficult for children. It was a mile and a half and the end of it had some gnarly switchbacks made up of large sharp rocks and loose ones too. Buck carried Johnny in a pack most of the way but our girls hiked the whole thing on their own and we were so proud of them! The only sad thing about this hike was that Winta was with some friends having her own adventures, so she wasn't with us. (but we're happy she was having fun, social time too.)

And now this is the part where I let the photos tell the most important parts of the story. :)

The Sound of Music 😏

A horrible photo but look! We saw a moose lazily laying in the shade while eating plants

As you can see, this was a beautiful hike and so rewarding with all its views and flowers and trees! We must go again!

I love Johnny's oversized hat! I need to try this trail next year. It looks beautiful!

That seriously looks like heaven!! Our trip to Utah was too short...we didn't even make it up the canyon while we were there. (Well, I guess we did drive through Spanish Fork Canyon on our way to Arches and back...) Now I want to go back!!

Interesting name for a lake. One of these times I will hike up there with you. Always rewarding to find new places to visit.
