Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! 🎇🎆

One of my favorite holidays! Mostly because it's the most summer of all summer things. It's hot with a warm summer night. Boating, good food, mountains, fire works, friends and family. That's what we did!

My parents came into town for the weekend! We were all excited and it was great!
Friday we took the boat out! Always a good time.

The morning of the 4th, for breakfast we ate donuts with red, white, and blue sprinkles. And then Haben stayed home while Johnny napped (because she had a head ache and didn't want to come) and the rest of us went to the mountains! The drive was really pretty and green. We found a random little trail. When we started to walk I realized June never put on her tennis shoes like I told her to, but instead decided on the fashion statement of flip flops. Mid-walk she remembers the trauma of being bit by a red ant last year and then proceeds to cry and freak out, stomping around like bugs are crawling all over her. She looked like a lunatic. We tried to keep going, explaining to her that if she's moving there's less of a chance to get bit, but still, she continued deeper into her wails of panic. Finally my dad surrendered and took her back to the cars. Meanwhile, those of us who stayed, played in a stream, crossed natural log bridges and threw rocks into the water.

June, refusing to move because we didn't love her anymore since we brought her outdoors to be murdered by bugs.

Then we came home and my parents went to my grandma's house and our family went to a place near a field in the neighborhood where a bunch of neighbor's were gathered to watch some men sky dive and land in the field. So random, right? But whatever, seemed exciting.

We had to wait quite a while but finally the planes showed up and they jumped. One had orange smoke trailing behind him and his orange outfit and parachute. Another man landed in the lake. The others made the field. So random!

Then we headed to our neighbor's house. We had a fun barbecue dinner together and laughed and talked and played. Then we did some tiny little kid fireworks and sparklers outside.
There's always at lease one kid....

The sky colors!

Then the neighborhood was still putting on their firework show, despite the fact that we all just had a scary evacuation for a wild fire. Utah, man. Nobody cares about viruses or fires.

The reason we went in the end was because they lit the fireworks off at the harbor right on the rock jetty over the water. So they were careful and responsible as one could be. And it really was quite the night. They did well considering they weren't the professional monster fireworks. But we could also clearly see all the private and city firework shows going off around the other side of the lake. The moon was also full and brighter than any spark or fire as it slid up the sky above us.

What a good day! We got Johnny, Rose and Hazel in bed and June somehow ended up back at the neighbor's so we went back too and stayed way too late laughing and eating homemade cookie ice cream.

The next day we had a patriotic dinner with my parents, grandma, and one of my cousins.

And then we lit off some more little fireworks with my parents and Johnny, who was awake for these ones.

A good weekend that is now in the past and 2020 can't ruin! Hooray!

Ha, glad I’m not the only one who breathes a sigh of relief after fun days that weren’t struck by some new tragedy this year! Epic photos, as always. Wish we could have been there.

How have I missed commenting on SO many of these?! Ha ha! I read them right after you posted them. #fail. I'm glad you had a good 4th and that you have fun neighbors to do things with.
