Some Days are Warm

This winter has been weird. In January I was singing its praises, grateful for so much sun. It put on such a dazzling show for weeks that I let down my walls and rejoiced in the thought of an early spring. But then the end of February happened and winter decided to show up way late to the party, sink her claws into the calendar, and never let go. And this has been the RUDEST March- it's been colder and snowier than January ever was! We've had maybe three days of blue skies. And this has all been a long way to say- HEY! We've gone to the lake the three days it was sunny this month!

One such day, Hazel was dressed to the nines in four year old fashion, and she happily wandered around, completely lost in her own mind and world.

Another day we invited some friends! The kids played happily in the sand and my friend and I sat on a quilt and enjoyed the sun.

And lastly, my explorers wandered, found sticks, and made important drawings in the sand.

Each time we've gone home with sandy bums and shoes- always a sign of a good life being lived.
(And yes, we miss June a lot on our outings while she spends her days as basically a grown up at school.)

This spot is so close to our house. You should stop in and say "hi" sometime. Also, is that a bandaid on the top of Hazel's pants? hahaha!
