This is the most photos I think I've ever posted on my blog at once, but believe me, it's worth your time.
There is a man and his wife who live in Utah. They do not have a ton of money or own a fancy house with expensive things. They are humble people with kids and grand kids who love them. They live near my grandparents. A few years ago my grandma told me about these people's backyard, explaining to me that they had built a mini western town. I had envisioned like, a tiny model town on a table but when I finally went to see it, I was BLOWN AWAY. It's an actual life sized little town back there, and you'd have NO idea from looking at the front of the house.
I've had the chance to go there a few times now, and on my last visit I took photos of the place, desperate to document the details that these people have labored over. Keep in mind as you view these that this man built all of this with his own hands and him and his wife found all the objects and props simply at antique stores and shows and yard sales. And it is honestly one of the coolest things I've ever seen. And so inspiring! You don't have to be a millionaire to make your dreams a reality. You don't have to have a masters degree in everything surrounding your passions. The most important traits in a human are being a hard worker, having determination, and dreaming big.
And a final note before I set you free on the journey of these photos: I got there on a fall evening and I was losing light fast so these photos are not, like, the best, but they show the place and that's what matters most. Also, because I lost light, I didn't even get to photograph the fisherman's wharf, the Tiki surf lounge, the kids pirate ship, the two story play house, the old fashioned gas station with a remodeled (by this man of course) 1950's Bel Air convertible, the fire pit, the Italian terrace, or the Asian Meditation gardens and room. Inside their house each and every room is decorated and themed- a safari, a western, Broadway, a 1950's diner, a Hollywood movie premier. Are you people reading what I just wrote?! Can you even comprehend what they people have created?! One day I will go back to document the rest!

He says that he hopes to one day build an old school and church house.
Maybe we should all spread the word and fund raise some money for them to finish this dream. :)
Or get them on the Ellen show?

This place encapsulates and reincarnates every magical moment ever dreamed up by my childhood imagination. And my adulthood imagination for that matter! Photos look great! I like the one in the bar with Buck's mustache and Dan. Haha

I've decided to share something AMAZING with you all today. On this post you will see one of the most incredible creations! It's one thing when a rich business makes something like this, but it's an entirely different thing when it's made by a humble man and his wife in their own backyard. You will not be disappointed.
I'm blown away! It amazes me when people mix their extraordinary talent with a whole lot of determination and hard work. What a magical place! I can't wait to see the rest of it photographed! Or maybe we can just come visit!
Amazing! When you get back to photograph the rest you should create a memory book for them to have. If you create it they might pay for it. Ellen show would be awesome but at least the local newspaper needs to buy your photographs and do a story. Maybe you could contact the paper and say I have a story for you if you'll use my photos. Heck, maybe you don't care if you get the money for them maybe you just want to see it published. It is truly amazing what he has done and I want to see him finish the last two buildings.
I've been meaning to go see this place every time I'm in Utah and keep forgetting to do it! Now I really must go next time!! I often think of things I'd like to do and then think "But I don't have the money" or "I don't have the time". This is a good reminder that I am limiting myself with these thoughts! I would like to know if they named the store, bank, hotel, etc after kids or grandkids! Oh, and I love the picture of Buck and Dan at the bar! :)
