So once it started warming up I started going outside in the mornings. I've been doing it pretty consistently now, even with some set backs like getting sick with the stomach flu and now a back injury.
But here's the thing. I don't run for a very long time or even go very far. I just run however far I feel like and then call it good. I will be running and my body feels great, it's ready to keep going but in my mind I'm like, "mmmmm, nah. I'm bored. I'm going home."
So how do I find the motivation? I know people will say to sign up for a 5k or marathon or something but I hate that idea and I don't know why. Anyone else ever feel this way? Does this just showcase some huge weaknesses in my personality? haha
The reason I started to run is just because I want to be more healthy. I have all these things (heart murmur, crooked spine causing displaced ribs, one kidney) and these things don't affect me a whole lot right now (unless pregnant...) and so I feel motivated to get more healthy so that my life as an old lady wont be so rough, because let's get real, all those things are going to suck as my body ages.
But apparently this isn't enough to keep me going very far. So really, any tips or motivational sayings? I'd like to find it in myself to push my limits!
And then-
We have decided to take on our whole garden area and we planted just about everything we could. We just want to see what will grow. I don't know why it's said that some people have a "green thumb" and that some don't- but it makes me nervous. What if we don't have thumbs with any color?!
I suppose we will find out. Last year we did grow (a little too well) pumpkins and squash (no really, they grew out of control.)
This year we have planted:
Strawberries, raspberries, kale, spinach, swiss chard, collards, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, peas, pumpkins, squash, corn, potatoes, garlic, onions, carrots, watermelon, and cantaloupe. Plus we have our mass producing peach tree.
And then for the herbs we have basil, lemon thyme, lavender, spearmint, and rosemary.
Holy garden. That's a lot! We'll see if anything grows! So far we have some sprouts and certain things are bursting through the dirt! Any tips for the garden!?
*UPDATE* Buck may or may not have forgotten and left the water running on it ALL NIGHT and I think maybe everything just drowned. :( I'll tell you this much, the garlic is doomed.

Anna! For the garden, use Miracle Grow! It always worked a treat for our Grandpa Rich!
Find a running buddy! It helps to have someone to chat with so you're not as focused on the running part. Try coming up with a new route each time, or give yourself a reward (if i run for 45 minutes without stopping we'll go get frozen yogurt :-), listen to an audio book, etc. good luck, that's awesome!

Holy Garden, that sounds delicious. We mostly have weeds in our garden and our strawberries taste like dirt. :)
As far as health goes, one time I heard my grandma say that she always wanted to serve a mission with my grandma and she never thought that she would have so many health problems to keep her home. I guess that's one of our big motivators. We want to be old active people that travel and do exciting things acrobatic and what not!
ps you can do insanity with us next week, or you can use the treadmill in our garage! We can't wait to have you guys here!
* grandma wanted to serve with grandPA, not herself...
I would have never guessed that you would turn into a runner. Go, Anna! As for the water in the garden you can buy a timer that you can put on the hose when you hook it up to the water and maybe that would help. Good luck. I hope your garden isn't drowned after all your hard work.
We tried planting a few things, too. And then we had to put up a little fence around it because there was a bunny lurking nearby. We were not as ambitious as you, but I suspect your garden area is larger than ours (ours is tiny). I hope you have success. Most things grow really well in Utah, it seems (as long as you water them). I don't remember having a successful garden until we moved to Utah! As for running--I'd like to get back to that myself. I ran one year in college and came to like it. If I had my own indoor track for winter I'd probably still be running!
