Abe

Anybody wondering if we still have that dog we got in January?  We do. And it's been crazy.
It's been a surprisingly emotional journey. There have been many moments where I regretted our decision. haha But in the end we know he is the right dog for our family.

Why is it that I can watch June throw tantrums from sunrise to sunset and keep my cool? (I'm not saying I'm so calm everyday) but whenever Abe does something stupid (which is often) I turn into the HULK and get all crazed and angry? Ach. I have no idea. Why would I put the standard on him to just learn everything the first time and to be perfect when he's an ANIMAL. Sure, he's smart, but he's no prodigy. I've been learning a lot, and oddly, it's making me a better mom. I think.

Lately he has been getting a lot better though. He does learn fast and he's always so dang happy. June loves to help discipline him. But she's also been warming up to him as a friend. She loves to help him go "night night" and to feed him his dinner (and hers...) and when he's being calm she goes up and gently pets him. And every time we leave the house she says good bye to him. "Bye bye dottie!" (she also says good bye to all the pets, "bye bye te-te [kitty]" "Bye bye shesh [fish]!" It's cute.)

Once Buck gets home though it's as though I've never existed. Abe loves Buck the most. Never mind the fact that I'm the one who takes care of him alllll day.

I call him "Abe-ers" a lot and also "abe-sicle" and Buck hates both of these nicknames with a fiery passion.

But whatever, since I am the one home all day with him I get to choose these nicknames, right?

He's cute and we love him, no matter what. And I'm glad that we could save him from the pound- that's gotta count for something, right?

Annnnd.....Frick. Speaking of ABE- He wont stop putting his SLOBBERY ball on my LAP. So, peace out!

Aw, ABE! ;) You're doing awesome with him and you've never had a dog before!! So many experienced dog owners would be jealous (like me!)

I can't wait to hear June say words!! Charlie still has no interest in talking!

Perhaps you turn into the hulk with Abe because you never do with June and those stress-inducing tantrums gotta stress out SOMEONE ;)

He is such a good looking dog! We got our dog when Seth was about a year and a half and I remember experiencing the same phenomenon...much more patient with the child than with the dog. I also remember that I loved the dog but if he nipped Seth then he was in BIG trouble! Bottom line is, I think we love our kids more than our animals...even though we love them both.
