Christmas

I wrote this on Wednesday or something, so it's a little dated. But I'm too tired to revise it.

You know how I'm usually all over the place? Going to some lavender festival or flying across the country or going to a petting farm or dog sledding or SomeThing? Well, this Christmas has been so calm. There are all these activities- Like the Charles Dickens festival or Christmas tree farms and sleigh rides; Santa at the mall and ginger bread house exhibits. They call to me, like all new experiences do. But aside from Zoo lights and the plan to see the lights at temple square, I've said NO to them all. The biggest reason for this is that it's been the last push till the end of Buck's semester. He took A LOT of credits and it's been pretty intense for him these past couple weeks. Now Friday is in sight, and that's when it all ends.

But I've been grateful for the calmer month. I love to do things but I think that our little family needed this month to be more silent and thoughtful.

Have you all seen The Nativity? Because you should. We own it and you can come watch it. I've been watching it every year since it came out. It was in the movie theaters Christmas 2006. It's not made by the LDS church and I found that a bit refreshing. I feel like the Mary in this movie is the most realistic, and the way they focus on the character of Joesph is the best. It shows the truth of it all, how they all lived back then; what life was like. It gives insight into the relationship Mary and Joesph could have had. Even though some parts of the story are all clumped together in one night (the wise men, King Harod sending men to kill the first born boys, Mary and Joesph running away to Egypt- pretty sure that all didn't happen the night Christ was born) I felt like it is the most realistic movie of the famous tale. (granted, I'm no scholar of that time period) But it gives me chills every time. Just thought I should give it a shout out. :)

One thing we have done over here is get our Christmas decorations up. And that has helped fill our home with that Christmas-y feeling.

Okay, So can we just talk about these colors?! I'm obsessed. But I'm obsessed with colors and light all the time. But I just can't stop looking at this part of the house. The way the colors all melt into each other- I can't handle it! I just have to keep looking over. I tried explaining this to Buck how someone who loves chocolate has to keep going back to take another bite- that's how I feel about these colors and looking at them. He was silent for a moment and then asked, "Are you sure you never dropped acid?" Nope, and I guess I don't need to.

And now for some Tree time. Yes, tree time.

Our ornament from our first Christmas together- at Disneyworld!

I wanted to go to the Dickens Festival too, maybe next year! It is better to enjoy and savor than rush and miss feeling the spirit of Christmas. I try to be more deliberate in my shopping so it is about the person and what I think will bring them joy instead of feeling rushed and put out. It mostly works if I am organized:) Christmas is magical, lovely photos!

I love the lights too! I could just stare at my tree all day. I'm jealous that you can get such great pictures of your tree! I try but they never look that good!
