We had a fun night celebrating New Years! We invited some friends. We decided to save money and skip roller skating and the big (disappointing) balloon drop and stay home and do our own this year and it turned out great! We out little prizes in the balloons and everything!
One different thing was that June was at a friend's house this year and we missed her but also happy she has friends to hang out with and do teenager things.
We had Thai food, chocolate fondue, and played games. We also played bingo and the kids each got a prize. Then we brought back an old tradition and set off sky lanterns again! We wrote down hopes for the new year. Our lantern stayed lit and in flight for like ten minutes! It was crazy!
Then we did the New York ball drop (10:00 pm our time!) and did a cheers and then did the balloon drop and it was so fun! Then we got the littler kids in bed and let the ten year olds stay up till real midnight. We played more games and then rang in the new year together on our balcony where we can see the valley miles away around the lake where hundreds of people set off fireworks. It was a memorable night!
