Happy Birthday Hazel

HAPPY 8th BIRTHDAY, HAZEL!!!!

 Dear Hazel,

It has been nothing but wonderful to have you in our family and lives. It's been a joy to watch you grow and learn more and more about you. And this past year there was so much wonderful growth! And now you're 8! Which is Crazy!

You have found your place with good friends and gained a lot of confidence there. You are friendly and super goofy. A bit wild. ;) And you're not afraid to be yourself. You really love and know who you are. Really, you have confidence in most anything.

You love your family deeply and find your safety and solace there. You love to be with your sisters and brothers. You hated when Winta and Haben moved out and every time we are with them again you just cuddle up with them and refuse to let go. When someone earns your trust, which is a thing you don't give out to just anyone, you give your whole heart!

You LOVE to learn. You declare yourself "curious" and you soak up all information. Whether that's pouring over an adult anatomy book, learning the piano, scanning a globe, or following step by step on an art piece. Your teacher has said that you're his favorite student. (shhhh) and that not only are you eager to learn and kind to others, but you are so helpful in the classroom as well. Lately you've been into our church's hymn book and lay in your bed at night with a flash light, reading all the verses in the songs and writing down the page numbers of your favorite ones. And let's not forget the Harry Potter books! This past year we've read nearly five of them. You follow and understand the story really well. You're great at fixing things and solving problems. We're excited to see who you become!

You're also very concerned about others. Every night you pray for the whole world to have happiness and that "nothing bad will ever happen." (if only) You're also concerned about animals and their habitats and one night you made me research all the endangered animals and tell you all the reasons they are on the list and asked what we can do.  Perhaps you'll be an activist when you grow up. ;)

This past year you've lost a lot of teeth! Well really those all came out the past couple of months. You've grown to really love swimming and have no fear. You are currently enjoying dance, piano and an art class. But you also love your down time to relax at home. Your favorite snack is blueberries and you will eat a whole huge container in one sitting. You're still obsessed with water and rarely drink anything else. You're still picky in other ways but have also gotten better at trying new things. Your favorite color seems to change daily. But you still love to watch learning shows like Magic School bus and other ones that teach things.

You're quirky and crazy. You make the weirdest sounds and have gotten pretty good at a Donald duck voice. haha You're full of great questions and ideas. You continue to want to make anything and everything out of cardboard. You still like to dress up and play pretend. I'd say that 8 IS, indeed, pretty great. We love you SO MUCH and you're such a light in our family.

Happy Birthday Hazel Mae! We love you!!
