Steel Days

Every year our city has a week long celebration called "Steel Days." Something to do with a steel plant that was here ages ago. All I know is that because of this there are parades, the antique car show, fireworks, festivals, and the carnival. Nana and Pops were around this year to join us!

Hazel was really funny about the rides. She would be so happy and excited once she was in them but as soon as the actual movement of the ride started she would get zoned in, intense, and stoned faced. It wasn't that she wasn't enjoying it though, as soon as we would take her off a ride she would cry and point to go back in.

 We had to get some greasy food for the full experience.

The highlight was when June insisted on riding this big ride. I was nervous because it went around pretty fast and lasted for a long time. It's a big drop for a little girl! But they let her on (!) and she loved it! She laughed and put her arms up and requested to ride it again once it was finished!

It's an annual tradition for us to go to the antique car show and pick out the car that we think looks like one another. This year it happened on the same that I was gone photographing a wedding. So we drove by and got a photo of the car Buck said represented this soul... I was sad we missed it but oh well.

On Saturday morning I woke June up early to go see some hot air balloons. Her sleepy smile was worth it. There were maybe five people there other than us and that made for a peaceful experience.

The girls were able to go to the parade thanks to my sister and her husband! (I was busy getting a bridal shower set up- busy week!) They got lots of candy thrown at them, slurpees (not thrown at them...) and June got to meet this gypsy... er... I mean Ariel?

It's such a fun time of year! I can't say it enough- I LOVE SUMMER!!!
