Autumn Walks

The sun was warm, the grass golden. We wandered up the dirt path across the street, into a field of yellow sage brush. I allowed Rose to traipse wherever she pleased. She skipped up the dirt hill, meandered into the brush, and then back the other way towards the blue lake. We followed a dragonfly with our fingers, ran into a sticky spider web, poked at some deer tracks, and talked about the large, solitary tree that's ablaze with yellow leaves.
It was exactly what we both needed.
